스토리
균열이 열리고, 악마들이 장벽을 넘어 실발론드 세계에 도착합니다. 루카디아 대륙의 생명체는 존망의 기로에 놓였고, 신앙심을 잃은 고대 신 대신 새로운 신 세레이드의 신들이 강림해 인류에게 힘을 나눠줍니다. 선택받은 자들은 각성자가 되었고 자신들의 힘을 이용해 적과 자신을 공허 세계로 가두어 인류와 분리하게 되는데요. 혼돈을 제거하고 이곳을 벗어나기 위해 각성자들이 계속해서 전투를 치루게 됩니다.
컨텐츠&아트
게임의 전체적인 틀은 간단합니다. 정예, 일반, 타임어택, 회복 등 랜덤으로 구성된 방들을 선택하여 각 스테이지들을 돌파합니다. 스펙을 쌓은 후 각 우두머리들을 잡고 최종적으로 전투를 승리하는 것이 이 게임의 메인 컨텐츠입니다.
게임에서는 성유물, 법기, 전투 강화처럼 중간중간 강화할 수 있는 장치들이 존재합니다.
성유물은 장비나 악세사리라기보단 전투 보너스를 주는 축복을 받는다고 생각하시면 됩니다. 적들을 격퇴하거나, 특정 축복 방에 진입하거나, 상점에 진입하여 실발론드 금화를 이용해서 성유물을 구입할 수 있습니다. 이 성유물들은 여러 속성으로 구성되어 있고 치명타, 공격력 등 각종 능력치를 올려주기도 합니다. 각 속성은 상태 이상이나 버프를 줍니다. 
이외에도 법기는 일종의 액티브 스킬을 쓸 수 있는 보조 무기 개념입니다. 승급을 해서 효과를 올리거나 교체할 수 있습니다. 레벨업을 하면 전투 강화도 할 수 있는데 영구적으로 전투 보너스를 받을 수 있습니다.
영혼의 메아리와 무의 정수는 게임 오버가 된 이후에도 남아 캐릭터 특성을 강화하거나 다른 클래스를 해금할 수 있습니다. 이게 난이도를 낮추는 핵심적인 컨텐츠인데요.
무의 정수로 특성을 조금이라도 강화한다면 난이도가 낮아졌다는 것이 바로 체감이 될 정도였거든요. 그만큼 소위 말하는 '손맛'은 그대로 느끼게 해주되, 각 스테이지는 어렵지 않게 적절하게 하향 조절하였습니다.
엄밀히 보면 게임 컨텐츠 종류가 다양하진 않아 보입니다. 방의 종류는 넓게 보면 전투, 상점, 회복 필요한 것만 딱딱 있는 정도에요. 그래서 1~2판 정도만 해보면 상황에 맞게 어디를 가야 하는 것이 좋겠다 바로 감을 잡으실 수 있습니다. 필요한 부분 위주로 재밌게 구현하되, 거기에 여러 커맨드 키와 랜덤성으로 재미를 더한 케이스입니다.
더하여 초반 튜토리얼 및 성 내 연습할 수 있는 공간도 지원되기에 조작법도 빠르게 숙지할 수 있어요. 
스토리도 인트로에만 넣어두려고 하지 않고 약간이지만 게임 플레이 중간에 NPC, 보스 등장 씬에도 대화를 넣어 어느 정도 서사를 부여하고자 했다는 점도 인상적입니다.
게임은 언리얼 엔진 기반입니다. 처음에는 다수의 적들을 상대로 여러 기술들을 활용해 공략해보면서 3인칭 핵앤슬래시 느낌도 났는데요. 회피기와 대시를 적극적으로 활용해서 적들의 공격을 최대한 피하면서 HP를 보존해야 하는 것이 몹시 중요합니다. 실제 해보니 전반적인 조작감은 히트박스를 활용한 소울라이크와 유사합니다.
전반적으로 캐릭터 액션에 많은 공을 들였는데요. 내려찍기, 올려찍기, 대쉬 등 액션게임에서 구현할 수 있는 기본 공격기는 거의 다 사용이 가능합니다. 회피, 가드를 모두 사용할 수 있으면서 패링 시스템까지 존재해요. 그래서 완벽 회피나 완벽 가드를 통한 카운터 공격까지 가능합니다.
개인적으로 패링에 대한 타격감이 정말 만족스러웠습니다. 순간적인 슬로우 모션 이후 강한 충격을 연출하면서 반격감이 시원시원합니다. 그만큼 액션은 매우 화려한 편이라고 생각해요. 플레이어의 성향에 맞게 회피, 가드, 공중 공격, 지면 공격 등 많은 경우의 수를 두고 플레이가 가능합니다.
즉, 오픈월드였다면 탐험에 중점을 두어 액션성은 일부 제약받았을 수도 있겠지만 각성자: 잊혀진 맹세는 그렇지 않았고요. 한정된 공간이지만 넓은 필드에서 직선적으로 스테이지를 돌파하는 시스템으로 전투 위주의 재미를 추구하였습니다.
특히 적들의 HP 하단에 있는 게이지를 전부 깎고 나면 일정 시간 그로기 상태가 되는데요. 특정 약점을 공략할 필요 없이 그냥 적을 공격하다보면 자연스레 깎을 수 있어 역시 쉽게 게임을 진행하라고 배려한 느낌을 받았습니다.
컨트롤할 때 어려움을 겪는 이유가 있다면 고정 시점이 제대로 활성화되지 않는다는 것. 고정 시점 자체는 있어 타겟을 중간중간 볼 수 있긴 한데 카메라 시점이 몬스터 움직임을 잘 따라가진 않더라고요. 
전투를 하기 전 필드는 랜덤으로 배정이 됩니다. 대체로 광활한 배경에 맞게 넓은 공간에서 싸우는지라 부조리함 없이 상당히 쾌적한 느낌입니다. 주변 지형이나 함정을 이용한 환경 데미지까지 섞여있어 컨트롤 하는 재미도 쏠쏠합니다. 대신에 전투 과정에서 고퀄 렌더링 때문인지는 모르겠지만 아주 가끔 버벅임은 있는 편입니다.
정예(엘리트)나 일반 몬스터 같은 경우에도 랜덤으로 배치되는데 종류는 적당하다고 생각했으며 공격 패턴도 다양했습니다.
정리
각성자: 잊혀진 맹세는 고퀄리티의 그래픽 및 액션을 즐기려고 할 경우 추천드리고 싶은데요. 플레이 방식은 소울라이크 작품들을 해보셨다면 많이 익숙하실 겁니다. 직접 해보니 입문 난이도는 상대적으로 낮다고 생각합니다. 초반부에는 힘들지만 반복적으로 하면서 컨트롤을 익히며 패턴에 적응할 수 있고요. 여기에 로그라이크를 결합하여 성장의 비중을 크게 높였습니다. 그래서 리트라이에 대한 압박감과 스트레스가 덜하다고 할 수 있어요.
탐험을 좋아하진 않지만 하드코어한 게임에 부담을 느낄 경우, 입문용으로도 정말 적합한 게임이라고 생각합니다. PC게임으로 출시되었지만 키보드 외에도 컨트롤러 패드도 지원하니 콘솔 유저들도 플레이 가능합니다.
