We are Narrowdeep, the developers of Inquisitor Shepherd.

It's already March, heralding the start of spring.
Last February, we focused all our efforts on updating the demo and solidifying the game's foundation.
This month, we're sharing the development progress we've been working hard on to bring you good news.

We're sharing the current development status and new information.

🔔 Summary of Key Development Status in MarchScenario Development Expansion: Chapter 2's main work is progressing smoothly, and we've started drafting Chapter 3, which is the backbone of the story.Introduction of 2 New Characters: Introducing 'Edwin Galverton' and 'Vale Walter', who will appear from Chapter 2 and enhance the immersion of the play.Successful Steam Next Fest: The global demo version received positive reviews from English-speaking users and successfully concluded the event.Global Publishing Discussions: We are in discussions with overseas publishers regarding multilingual (Chinese, Japanese) support and global release agreements.
🎮 Detailed Development Progress

1. Chapter 2 Sailing Smoothly and Chapter 3 Draft Commenced

Currently, Chapter 2 is accelerating detailed work to create a more interesting and suspenseful production.
In addition, we have begun drafting Chapter 3 in parallel to improve the overall story's completeness.

This month's work contains a lot of spoiler content that penetrates the core of the story, so we ask for your generous understanding that we cannot disclose the entire work illustration.
Instead, we will briefly introduce two major new characters who will lead the narrative of Chapter 2.

Edwin GalvertonHe is a loafer who runs a bee farm and shelter in the middle of the Hoshi Mountain Road.

He often confuses Shepherd with his unique way of speaking, asking and answering questions at the same time.

He seems to be plotting something secret in collaboration with the mountain guide 'Linari'.

 

Vale Walter

He is the faith leader of the Hoshi Prayer House.

He is a mysterious figure who always disappears after the worship schedule, citing personal maintenance.

For some reason, he seems to already know about Shepherd, whom he met for the first time.

 

2. Successful Steam Next Fest and Global Expansion News

The English demo version released through the recent 'Steam Next Fest' received better-than-expected positive responses from global users.

Good English Demo Evaluation: We were able to confirm the possibility of a global release of the main game through positive feedback from English-speaking users.Multilingual Expansion Discussion: Thanks to the successful conclusion of the event, we are currently receiving love calls from several overseas publishers.
We are currently in in-depth discussions regarding publishing agreements, including the production of Chinese and Japanese versions.Schedule Information: If additional production is decided upon due to the confirmation of multilingual support, the overall release schedule may be adjusted somewhat.
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but we are providing this information in advance to transparently share it with the users who are waiting.

I have kept spoilers to a minimum, in my opinion.

- Before we begin -
As someone with no experience in visual novels, I was deeply moved by Cloud Bread Games' previous work, 'French Connection'.

Excellent story coherence, detailed emotional descriptions of the characters, and OST selection that matched it,and even incredibly delicious cutscenes.I'm not one to empathize much when watching a novel or a movie, but I felt heartbroken seeing the protagonist's 'unavoidable situation' and the two heroines who were hurt by it.It's a secret that I drooled and enjoyed the Christmas event in the main story, only to be slapped by Ara and shed tears.

Anyway, if my first visual novel was 'French Connection', then the second one I cleared was 'Who's My Manito'. The previous work was quite well-made, so the second game is also a Cloud Bread production. 

1. About cutscenes and SD illustrations.

I liked most of the cutscenes quite a bit. The story cutscenes by 1_Yun, who was also in charge of the illustrations for French Connection, were unparalleled in terms of emotion and atmosphere, in my opinion. Doeun was incredibly pretty. Suyeon was really exciting.

The SD illustrations also hit my taste. The children's emoticons in the text messages were so cute. So cute that I wanted to bite them. The SD cutscenes go without saying. The bread-like atmosphere unique to SD is very well alive. So cute. After seeing the pre-released Doeun pasta SD scene, I chose Doeun's route even before the game came out.
(Doeun eating pasta is incredibly cute!)

2. About the story and its related elements.

As the previous work was French Connection, the story is quite good. If French Connection left a bitter aftertaste because of the protagonist's unavoidable choices, in this work, that bitterness goes to the characters. In my opinion, this is a means for empathy and comfort, and it seems to be a factor in determining the route to the character you are more drawn to later. As a result, the emotional lines of the characters, which change from moment to moment, become the theme and highlight of the main story. 

Speaking for myself, my beliefs wavered slightly from Doeun to Suyeon, but ultimately I empathized with Doeun a little more.

And while playing Who's My Manito, you will be able to discover something welcome. The voice of the professor in the liberal arts course during the game is 'someone from the previous work's voice is very consistent, so I was quite puzzled, but after pushing the story quite a bit, I realized why. If you have played French Connection before, I am sure that you will feel a great sense of joy.

Anyway, if you compare the story to chocolate, you can see that the sweetness of milk chocolate that will rot your teeth and the subtle bitterness of dark chocolate are in harmony.

3. Overall review

Was the bitter aftertaste of French Connection too painful? Are you curious about the harmony created by overwhelming sweetness and a little bitterness? Or do you want to see a crazy tug-of-war between two heroines with tremendous charm? I recommend Who's My Manito. I don't think there's anything to criticize about the story itself. I played it because of Cloud Bread Games' reputation, but I think it's a worthwhile game even if it wasn't for that. I think the game itself is great. 

So when can we see the French Connection store manager route?

It was a really satisfying work, and the discounted price of 16,110 won was not a waste at all. The playtime of 7 hours and 30 minutes was really valuable. I support Cloud Bread Games' future endeavors!

마지막으로, 도쿄 게임쇼에서 멋진 전시를 할 수 있었습니다. 행사 현장의 모습을 담은 사진과 함께, 게임을 소개할 수 있었던 것에 대한 개발자 노트를 작성하였습니다!  2023 도쿄 게임쇼를 마무리하며

TGS에 참가했습니다. 

직전 비공개 미디어 대상 시연회에서 하루 종일 인터뷰를 대응한 것과, 공기가 매우 답답했던 3일간의 TGS 행사는 정말 힘들었습니다. 특히 TGS 3일차에는 호텔 숙박 후 갈아입을 옷을 챙기는 것을 잊어버리는 실수를 저질렀다는 것을 깨달았습니다.
(심지어 나눠줄 래빗&베어 티셔츠 3벌은 미리 챙겼습니다)

셔츠는 땀으로 흠뻑 젖었고, 제 몸 사이즈 때문에 근처 어딘가에서 교체용 셔츠를 사기가 쉽지 않았을 것이기 때문에 새벽 2시에 세탁기가 나올 때까지 셔츠를 손에 들고 호텔 세탁실과 방을 계속 왔다갔다해야 했습니다.

그럼에도 불구하고, 우리의 발표는 많은 사람들에게 좋은 반응을 이끌어 낸 것 같으며, 세 명의 주인공들이 전시된 부스에선 다양한 좋은 반응을 확인할 수 있었습니다.

2023 도쿄 게임쇼가 잘 마무리되어서 다행입니다.

첫날 에어컨이 잘 안나오기도 했고 (더운 것을 싫어하는 편입니다) 생방송 도중 약간 당황했지만 저는 괜찮습니다! 

실수를 한 점 양해의 말씀을 드립니다. 드디어 ‘백영웅전’의 제대로 된 모습을 보여드릴 수 있어 다행입니다.
(일반적인 게임을 기준으로 하면 이번이 첫 출시라고 생각하고 있습니다.)

2023 도쿄 게임쇼가 끝났습니다..

혹시 새로운 트레일러를 확인하셨나요?

사라 올레인 씨가 부르는 '백영웅전' 주제가를 여러분께 들려드리고 싶어 열심히 트레일러를 만들었습니다. 

 

올해는 제작 막바지와 맞물려서 작년보다 더 힘들었습니다.

개인적으로는 출시일 발표와 다양한 제작물 공개도 있고, 여러 가지 불안한 부분도 있었지만, 좋은 반응을 많이 주셔서 일단 안도하고 있습니다.

 

TGS에서 공식 방송을 시청해주신 분들, 무대 이벤트에 와주신 분들, 언론인 여러분, 다양한 의견과 피드백을 주셔서 감사합니다.

가능한 한 많이 확인하고 있습니다.

이제 막바지에 다다랐기 때문에 할 수 있는 일은 많지 않지만, 보내주신 의견도 잘 참고해서 최종 조율에 임할 수 있도록 하겠습니다.


이번에 이 기획을 킥스타터에서 시작하게 되어 전 세계 여러분들의 응원을 받게 되었고, 염원이었던 전 세계 유저분들을 대상으로 한 게임 개발을 할 수 있게 되었습니다.

하지만 막상 제작이나 이벤트 등을 진행하다 보면 그 어려움과 답답함을 실감하고 있습니다.


현지화 진행, 컨트롤, 물량 등, 이를 제작과 동시에 진행하면서 한정된 시간 안에 좋은 퀄리티로 완성해 나가는 어려움을 매번 느낍니다. 


일본은 모국이기 때문에 지금까지의 경험이 도움이 되지만, 해외에서는 언어와 감각이 많이 달라서 매번 '이것으로 괜찮을까? 라고 고민합니다. 

이벤트 등도 제작을 방치한 채로 쉽게 해외에 갈 수 없기 때문에, 좀 답답하죠.

 

가능하면 각 나라에 가서 여러분들의 열정을 직접 느끼고 이야기를 나누고 싶은 생각을 매번 하고 있습니다. 

 

'백영웅전'이 어떻게든 성공해서 인지도가 높아져서 다음에 또 다른 프로젝트를 시작할 수 있게 되면, 이번에는 해외의 열정적인 스태프들도 모아서 이 문제를 더 많이 해결해보고 싶다.

 

이런 생각을 하는 요즘입니다.
