고전적인 맛을 느낄 수 있는 가장 대표적인 장르를 꼽으라면 아무래도 SRPG를 뽑는 분들이 많지 않을까 싶어요. 적과 서로 턴을 주고 받으며 내가 이번 턴에 어떤 식의 움직임을 가져가야 가장 좋은 결과를 만들어낼지 고민하게 되는 장르가 바로 SRPG입니다.
워낙 두터운 팬층을 보유하고 있는 장르이기도 한만큼 메이저와 인디를 가리지 않고 지금도 많은 SRPG들이 발매되고 있는데요. 오늘은 이제 막 출시되어 스토브 인디에서 따끈따끈하게 만날 수 있는 오션드라이브 스튜디오의 SRPG '로스트 아이돌론스'를 알아봅시다.
튜토리얼 개념으로 로스트 아이돌론스의 주인공 이든이 어떤 상황에 놓여있는지 간단하게 따라가볼 수 있고, 이후 시점을 바꿔 아직 제대로 된 구색을 갖추기 전부터 본격적으로 게임을 진행하게 됩니다.
저는 일단 빠르게 1회차를 달려보기 위해 난이도는 스토리, 게임 모드는 캐주얼, 그래도 턴제 기반 게임에서 턴을 최대한 전략적으로 사용하는 재미는 놓칠 수 없었기에 턴 제한은 적용으로 놓고 출발했어요.
이미 SRPG에 굉장히 익숙한 분들이라면 난이도는 어려움, 게임 모드를 매니악으로 높여 조금 더 어려운 상태로 즐겨나갈 수도 있어 내가 원하는 대로 즐길 수 있는 나름의 자유도를 제공하는 게임이기도 합니다.
로스트 아이돌론스의 전투는 굉장히 익숙한 형태, 타일을 선택해 움직이고 내가 가져갈 동작을 골라 수행하는 식으로 진행됩니다. 하지만 그렇기만 했다면 다른 게임들이 아닌 로스트 아이돌론스를 선택할 근거가 굉장히 부족했을 테고 다행히 그 부분을 로스트 아이돌론스는 적극적인 상성 관계 활용으로 채워놓았어요.
로스트 아이돌론스의 캐릭터들 중 마법을 사용하는 캐릭터를 제외한 무기 캐릭터들은 두 개의 장비를 착용하고 전투에 진입할 수 있습니다. 단순히 적의 갑옷을 더 효율적으로 뚫어내기 위해 무기를 교체하는 선택지를 고를 수도 있지만
역상성, 또는 보통이더라도 이렇게 내가 이번 턴에 최대한 많은 대미지를 넣기 위해 무기를 바꿔 공격하는 식으로 무기 교체를 활용할 수 있어요.
물론 각 무기마다 숙련도가 존재하기 때문에 특정 캐릭터를 특정 무기의 달인으로 성장시키고 싶다면 이런 플레이는 도움이 되지 않을 수 있지만 턴을 최대한 덜 사용하고 이기면 경험치를 더 많이 받을 수 있으니 상황을 고려해 능동적으로 무기를 교체해 전투를 풀어나가는 걸 추천드립니다.
전투 스토리 전투 스토리로 직진하는 게 아니라 캠프 시스템을 통해 용병단에 관련된 다양한 이야기를 맛볼 수도 있고 등장인물들과의 의사소통으로도 또 다른 재미를 챙길 수 있다는 것 또한 로스트 아이돌론스의 매력 중 하나입니다.
물론 우호도나 읽을 거리 같은 요소들을 만날 시간에 한 번의 전투라도 더 진행하겠다고 생각하는 분들은 캠프를 빠르게 탈출해 계속해서 전투를 풀어나가는 것도 얼마든지 가능해요.
내가 꾸린 용병단들의 능력을 활용하는 것도 중요하지만 이렇게 스테이지를 구성하고 있는 다양한 요소들을 확인하고 적극적으로 활용해주는 것 또한 로스트 아이돌론스의 매력을 느낄 수 있는 부분입니다. 아직 초반이지만 이런 기본적인 틀에서 정통적인 SRPG의 느낌을 받을 수 있었고 앞으로의 전투도 꽤 재미있게 다는 생각 역시 들었어요.
단순히 반란군의 입장이 되어 제국을 상대하는 것뿐만 아니라 세계 곳곳에 존재하는 마물들을 상대할 수도 있는 등 다양한 매력을 갖추고 있는 SRPG 로스트 아이돌론스는 9월 25일부터 스토브 인디에서 만나볼 수 있는 상태입니다. 추석 연휴 동안 진득하게 즐길만한 게임을 찾고 있었다면 서로 다른 난이도로 계속해서 신선한 재미를 찾을 수 있는 로스트 아이돌론스와 함께해보는 걸 추천드려요!
