2050년, 일론 머스크가 자신이 만든 스타 딕 시스템으로 세계를 통제하려는 야욕을 뿜어내자 이를 막기 위해 베어 헬레이저가 출동한다는 심플한 스토리를 가진 게임, 메드베드 헬레이저를 즐겨보고 왔습니다

Mad가 아니라 Med지만 일단 로딩창에서부터 제대로 미쳐있는 듯한 느낌을 받을 수 있는 메드베드 헬레이저는 FPS 장르의 게임으로 그 과정에서 간단한 퍼즐을 풀어나가며 스타 딕 시스템을 막기 위한 여정을 밟아나가게 되는 게임인데요. 개인적인 감상은 이 로딩창이 메드베드 헬레이저의 알파이자 오메가인 것 같다는 점이었습니다 ㅋㅋ

1번은 마법 도끼, 2번은 산탄총, 3번은 유탄 발사기, 4번은 아직 만나보지 못한 어떤 장비 이렇게 4개의 장비 슬롯이 준비되어 있고 이 중 초반에는 도끼와 산탄총을 통해 등장하는 적들을 제압해나가게 됩니다. 메드베드 헬레이저의 특징 중 하나는 평소에는 별다른 BGM이 깔리지 않다 전투에 들어가면 메탈 사운드가 펼쳐지기 시작한다는 점이에요

처음에 만나게 되는 적들은 크리쳐 느낌 가득한 유형이지만 이야기를 풀어나가다 보면 노숙자와 외계인 같은 다양한 친구들을 마주하게 됩니다

영어로 말을 하지만 일단 한국어 번역이 적용되어 있어 자막으로 베어 헬레이저가 무슨 소리를 하는지 어렵지 않게 이해하며 즐길 수 있습니다. 물론 이런 내용이 없어도 스테이지를 진행하는 건 어렵지 않아요

차근차근 적들을 지워나가며 모든 적을 처치한 뒤 제공되는 열쇠를 주워 다음 문을 여는 간단한 방식을 갖고 있기 때문이죠

다만 적들의 수가 와르르 쏟아지지 않는 게임임에도 적들의 패턴이 그렇게 어렵지 않다는 점 덕분에 FPS에 익숙한 분들이 이 게임에 흥미를 쉽게 붙이지 못할 수도 있겠다는 생각이 들었습니다

당연히 탈출할 수 있는 키를 얻고 문을 열면

보스가 등장하게 되죠. 이 때 아무 생각 없이 산탄총만 난사하다 보니 총알이 없어서 강제로 도끼를 갖고 근접전을 펼치게 되었습니다

그리고 도끼를 5번 적중 시키면 성 피기디우스의 도끼가 불타오르게 되고 원거리 공격이 가능해진다는 것도 알게 되었어요

산탄총의 총알이 굉장히 부족하기 때문에 스테이지에서 마주하게 되는 적들을 한 방에 처리 가능한 거리에서 잡는 컨트롤이 필요하다는 것 또한 진행을 조금 귀찮게 만드는 부분 중 하나였습니다. 2스테이지 보스인 미확인 비행물체가 드론을 계속 잡으면 되는지 본체를 두들겨야 하는지 확실히 드러나지 않는 부분도 불편했구요

이런 부분은 게임의 퍼즐 요소 중 하나로 넘어갈 수도 있겠지만 메드베드 헬레이저를 즐기며 느낀 가장 큰 문제점은 바로 게임 화면이 덜덜덜 떨린다는 부분이었어요. 이 부분은 컴퓨터 설정의 문제일 수도 있겠지만 저처럼 이런 버그가 발생할 경우 멀미를 겪을 수도 있으니 주의하도록 합시다

전체적인 감상은 일론 머스크라는 핫한 키워드를 꺼내지 않았다면 굉장히 아쉬웠을 게임이라는 점입니다. 하지만 내가 FPS라면 일단 즐기고봐야 하는 FPS 매니아라면, 여러 의미로 항상 많은 주목을 받는 일론 머스크를 다른 느낌으로 만나고 싶다면 메드베드 헬레이저는 의외로 긍정적인 재미를 보여줄 수도 있어요

초상권에 대한 문제는 어떻게 처리했는지 궁금하기는 하지만 어쨌든 세상을 구하기 위한 베어 헬레이저의 모험을 리드미컬한 음악과 함께 즐겨볼 수 있다는 점은 분명하니 간단하게 즐길만한 FPS를 찾고 있다면 메드베드 헬레이저를 고려해봅시다

메드베드 헬레이저는 23년 9월 5일부터 스토브 인디에서 만나볼 수 있는 상태입니다. 앞서 언급했듯 한글화가 적용되어 있어 게임의 스토리를 이해하는 게 그렇게 어렵지 않으니 한번 달려보는 걸 추천드려요

로딩할 때마다 이 장면을 볼 수 있다는 것만으로도 메드베드 헬레이저의 가치는 충분하지 않을까 싶습니다 ㅋㅋㅋ
