KOEI사의 대항해시대 시리즈는 항해, 무역, 모험, 선박전투와 같은 장르의 게임으로 즐길 수 있는 대표적인 항해 어드벤쳐 게임이었습니다.
그러나 싱글 플레이로 즐길수 있는건 2021년도에 대항해시대 4와 확장팩 파워업키트를 합본으로 리마스터해준 대항해시대 4 HD가 유일하며 그 외의 시리즈에는 온라인과 모바일로 출시되고 명맥이 끊긴 상태이므로 항해와 관련된 싱글플레이 작품에 다들 목말라 있는 상태입니다.
저와 같이 항해 어드벤쳐 게임 덕후들이라면 '세일링 에라'를 해보고 대항해시대의 로망을 다시금 떠올리면서 만족할 수 있는 작품이 나왔다고 생각할텐데 그 외에 장점은 판매가격(27,000원)이 착하고 생각보다 KOEI사의 대항해시대 시리즈 장점이 잘 녹아들어 있으며 상위호환이라고 할 수 있을 만큼 편의성과 그래픽, 다양한 컨텐츠 구성에서 대폭 개선이 되어 있습니다.
물론 간혹 가다 보이는 버그나 컨텐츠의 가벼움 등은 아쉬울 수 있겠으나 대항해시대 아류작이 작은 중국 게임사에서 이 정도로 잘 만들어져 있는 점에서 상당한 충격이었으며 공식한글화가 없어서 아쉽지만 별도로 한글화만 추진된다면 충분히 한국시장에서 경쟁력 있다고 생각합니다.
