이름은 반란군 주식회사이지만 국제기구 및 현지인들과 협력해 게릴라들을 억제, 소탕하고 지역을 안정화시키는게 목적입니다.
게릴라들을 소탕하고 민주주의를 전파하라! 이런 느낌일 것 같지만 때에 따라서 게릴라들과 협상도 하고 현지인들의 인기와 복지를 챙겨주어야 합니다.
이 게임을 만든 회사가 어디냐 하면... 바로 Ndemic Creations 입니다. 전염병 주식회사를 만들었던 회사죠. 전염병 주식회사는 말 그대로 전세계를 오염시킬 강력한 전염병을 만들어 퍼뜨리는게 목적 입니다. 이 게임이 한때 인기를 얻다가 좀 시들해졌는데 근래에 그 코XX 전염병이 퍼지고 난 뒤에 다시금 화제를 끌어 모았었죠. 전염병 주식회사도 명작이니 스토브에 들어 왔으면 하네요. 한글화도 되어 있습니다.
물론 이 게임이 이 장르 최초는 아니고 이 게임이 나오기 3개월 전에 Pandemic이라는 같은 장르 게임이 나와서 꽤 인기몰이를 했습니다. 전염병 주식회사의 게임성이 더 뛰어나 오래 기억되고 있지요.
반대로 전염병을 막는 Quarantine이라는 게임이 있는데 좀 무난한 게임성 때문에 크게 성공하지는 못했습니다.
그 후, 이 개발사는 이 반란군 주식회사를 개발해 모바일판으로 2018년에 출시. 2019년에는 기능을 업그레이드해서 pc버전을 스팀에 얼리엑세스로 내놓습니다. 게임의 배경은 아프가니스탄 입니다. 본문 위에 적었다시피 이 게임에서 승리하기 위해서는 반군들을 위한 정치 단체도 인정해서 그들의 요구도 좀 수용하고 현지인들의 생활안정을 위한 복지와 인기 정책도 해야하는데...
실제 미국은 자신들 말만 잘들을 정권을 고른다고 부패 정치인을 꼭두각시로 세워 현지인들에게도 호응을 크게 못 얻고 반군들의 저항도 더 거세게 만들었습니다. 미군이 아무리 훈련을 시키고 무기를 줘도 부패한 정권의 군부가 썩지 않을리 없겠죠. 시간이 흐르면 흐를수록 문제가 개선되기 보다는 부패의 골은 더 깊어졌고 부실의 구멍은 더 커져갔습니다. 일부 정규 특수부대 빼고는 당나라 군대나 다름 없었죠.
결국 게임이 나온지 2년 뒤, 2021년에 미군은 아프가니스탄을 철수합니다.
이쯤되면 게임사에 샤먼이 있는걸까요 아니면 뛰어난 데이터 예측 전문가가 있는걸까요. 게임에서 하면 폭망할 짓을 미국이 현실에서 하고 있었거든요.
이 게임도 초기 버전에는 나름 쉽게 깰 수 있는 꼼수들이 있었지만 지금은 수정 되었습니다. 여러모로 고민을 해야 클리어할 수 있습니다. 난이도가 마냥 쉽지 않아요. 물론 난이도 설정을 할 수 있어서 자신에게 맞는 난이도로 즐길 수 있습니다.
특히 보드 게임 좋아하시는 분들에게 걸맞는 게임이라고 생각합니다. 전략적 요소도 함축되어 있으니 전략 게임 매니아분들께도 추천합니다. 예전부터 관심있었고 플레이도 해봤던 게임이 슬데에 올라와 기쁜 마음에 후다닥 글을 적어봤습니다. 난이도를 낮추면 캐쥬얼 유저들도 요령을 익히면 할만하니 데모 한번 찍먹해보시는걸 추천합니다.
