Smilegate announced on the 12th (Thursday) that Korea's representative MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) 'Lost Ark' has updated the new episode 'Kadarum Island', which marks the beginning of the second story.
Kadarum Island is located between the 'Aldebaran Sea', which is the main stage of the second story in the Lost Ark universe, and the 'Sea of Giena', which was the stage of the first part, and is a region ruled by the Holy Empire 'Seikria'. In the first story, adventurers who ended the great war with Kazeros will continue their adventure to uncover the purpose of Seikria by solving a series of incidents behind them.
In particular, this episode is attracting attention as it contains the background story of the new Abyss Dungeon 'Cathedral of the Horizon', which is scheduled to be updated on March 18th. The Cathedral of the Horizon, located in the center of Kadarum Island, symbolizes the authority and faith of Seikria. Lost Ark maximized the immersion of the story by implementing the Cathedral of the Horizon as a space where raids unfold, combining cinematic direction and combat.
The item level to experience the Kadarum Island episode is 1700 or higher, and you must complete the episode 'The One Who Faced the End of the Abyss'.
Meanwhile, with this update, new collection points for the collection contents 'Sailing Adventure' and 'World Tree Leaf' have been added to receive the final reward, and a group support function has been newly introduced that allows you to apply for party finding with a group of 2 to 4 people, enhancing convenience.

Terraforming, 다른 행성을 지구와 같은 사람이 살 수 있는 곳으로 만들어나가는 과정을 그리는 게임들을 은근히 찾아볼 수 있습니다. 그런 많은 선택지들 중 최근 스토브 인디에서 만날 수 있게 된 게임이 있는데요. 오늘은 바로 그 게임 테라포머스가 어떤 게임인지 한 번 간단하게 즐겨보고 왔습니다
테라포머스에서 유저가 테라포밍을 진행하게 되는 무대는 '화성'입니다. 실제로 테라포밍의 가능성을 찾기 위해 계속해서 탐사하고 있는 행성이기도 하고, 이미 수많은 콘텐츠들에서 화성의 테라포밍을 주제로 다루고 있는 만큼 테라포머스에서 진행되는 화성 식민지화 프로젝트 역시 별다른 의문점 없이 곧바로 시작할 수 있어요
테라포머스의 여정을 본격적으로 시작하기 전, 내가 어떤 부분에서 조금 더 이점을 가져갈지를 지도자 선택을 통해 고를 수 있습니다. 초반에는 아무래도 빠르게 탐사를 진행해야 하는 만큼 탐사에 장점을 가진 지도자가 큰 도움을 줄 수 있고 이후 어느 정도 기반이 마련된 뒤부터는 정치에 특화된 지도자가 좋을 수 있어요.
지도자의 경우 한 번 선택하면 끝이 아니라 주기적으로 새로운 지도자를 뽑아 그 능력을 활용할 수 있기 때문에 내가 원하는 방향으로 발전하기 위해 가장 필요한 능력이 무엇인지를 확인하고 지도자를 유동적으로 바꿔나가주는 데에서 전략적인 매력을 얻을 수도 있습니다
테라포머스의 진행 구역은 크게 도시와 행성으로 나뉘어집니다. 행성 화면을 보고 있을 때는 새로운 지역을 탐사하고 자원을 채취하는 일련의 과정을 밟아나갈 수 있고
도시에서는 다양한 건물들을 배치해 내가 원하는 방식으로 발전시켜나갈 수 있어요. 이 과정은 모두 턴제로 진행되기 때문에 시간의 압박없이 느긋하게 테라포밍을 풀어나갈 수 있고 현재 내가 필요한 부분이 뭔지를 확실하게 파악할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 턴 단위로 진행된다는 것 덕분에 비슷한 주제를 다루는 다른 게임들보다 테라포머스가 특히 초보자들에게 좋은 선택지가 되어줄 수 있는 거죠
또한 테라포머스는 로그라이크 요소를 갖추고 있는 로그라이트 게임이기도 합니다. 다양한 지역을 탐사하는 과정에서 무작위 사건을 만날 수 있고 그걸 통해 성장에 박차를 가할 수 있게 되거나 반대로 성장에 제동이 걸릴 수도 있어요
내가 마주한 사건이 어떤 영향을 미칠지 모르기 때문에 그 때 그 때 즉각적으로 대처하는 데에서 임기응변의 맛을 느낄 수 있다는 것 역시 테라포머스의 주요한 매력 중 하나라는 생각이 들었습니다
게임을 진행하는 과정에서 한 가지 주의할 점은 바로 설치할 수 있는 프로젝트 카드를 무한히 소지할 수는 없다는 것입니다. 10장 이상의 프로젝트 카드를 갖고 있는 상태에서 새로운 카드를 얻으려면 가지고 있는 카드를 판매해야 해요. 그렇기에 미래를 위해 카드를 계속해서 들고있는 것보다는 내가 지금 활용할 수 있는 카드들 위주로 확보하는 형태로 테라포밍을 진행해주는 게 좋습니다
로그라이트 요소가 결합된 턴제 시뮬레이션 게임이라는 장르에 익숙하지 않은 분들은 기초적인 튜토리얼 이후 어떤 식으로 진행해야 할지 빠르게 감을 잡지 못할 수도 있어요. 하지만 테라포머스에서는 '목표'라는 가이드를 통해 내가 뭘 해야하는 지 어느 정도 선을 제시해주기 때문에 테라포머스를 선택했다면 적어도 뭘해야 할지 모르다 게임을 접어버리는 상황은 겪지 않을 수 있습니다
기온과 산소, 바다 레벨, 그리고 대기까지 화성이 지구와 같은 환경을 갖기 위해 가장 중요한 4가지 요소들을 채워나가기 위한 여정을 밟아나가다 보면 조금씩 바뀌어나가는 화성을 눈으로 확인할 수 있어요
내가 노력한 것들을 단순히 수치가 아니라 풍경이 바뀌는 걸로 직접 볼 수 있다는 부분 또한 테라포밍을 위해 열심히 움직이는 유저들을 위해 준비해놓은 의미있는 보상인 만큼 물이 흐르고 나무가 자라기 시작한 화성을 목표로 열심히 게임을 진행해보도록 하자구요
테라포머스는 스토브 인디에서 쉽게 만날 수 있는 게임입니다. 스토브 인디가 지원하는 대부분의 게임들이 그렇듯 테라포머스 역시 완벽하게 한글화가 이루어져 있어 텍스트의 내용들을 확인하는 게 중요한 턴제 시뮬레이션의 재미를 그대로 느낄 수 있어요
