그러나 28일 정식 출시를 앞둔 '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'의 출시 전 사전 플레이를 마치고 난 뒤, 그러한 나의 편견이 얼마나 그릇된 것이지를 깨닫게 되었다.
어여쁜 미모와 굴곡진 몸매의 네 명의 여성 캐릭터들이 저마다의 포즈로 매력을 뽐내고 있는 타이틀 일러스트를 보면서, 소위 '뽕빨물'이라고 칭해지는 흔해 빠진 야겜을 떠올렸던 자신을 반성했다.
랜덤 채팅의 그녀는 미소녀와의 로맨스를 다룸과 동시에 서사 중심의 비주얼 노벨로서도 충분히 잘 만들어진 작품이다.
'랜덤 채팅의 그녀'는 원작 웹툰을 기반으로한 작품이지만 나처럼 원작에 대한 내용을 전혀 모르거나, 원작과 관련하여 아무런 사전 정보가 없는 상태에서 플레이를 하게 되더라도 충분히 게임 속에 푹 몰입하면서 플레이할 수 있는 순애물이다.
시작은 그저 라이트하게 보기 좋은 여느 학원물 장르의 '웹 소설'이나 '웹툰'과 크게 다를 바 없게 느껴졌다.
그러나 스토리가 하나씩 진행되는 동안,
나는 이 작품이 그저 연애 못 하는 어느 남학생이 여자친구 하나 만들어 보자고 발버둥 치는 처절한 모쏠 탈출기를 다룬 스토리의 게임이 아니라는 사실을 깨닫게 되었다.
랜덤 채팅의 그녀는 '연애'나 '로맨스'가 주이긴 하나, 단순히 '연애'나 '로맨스'만이 전부는 아니다.
이 작품에는 사랑이 있고, 우정이 있고, 따뜻한 관심과 배려가 있다.
뻔~ 할 것 같았지만,
전혀 뻔~하지 않았던 작품, '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'를 소개한다.
'랜덤 채팅에서 대화를 나누던 여자가 아이가 사실은 같은 반?!'
랜덤 채팅의 그녀는 학교에서는 존재감이라고는 전혀 없는 17세 남학생이 주인공인 작품이다.
그의 유일한 낙은 랜덤 채팅에서 만난 상대와 주고받는 대화가 전부.
랜덤 채팅에서 만들어진 관계가 얼마나 덧없는 것인지는 알고 있다.
그래도 아무에게도 관심받지 못하고, 친구 하나 없는 학교생활보다는 찰나의 대화일지라도 인간적인 감정을 주고받을 수 있는 랜덤 채팅 속의 세계가 소년에겐 훨씬 더 다정하고 편안하다.
그런데 이런 우연이...

하지만 도통 속내를 드러내 보이지 않는 이 모범적인 우등생은 과연 주인공에게 있어서 아군일까? 적일까?
이렇듯 살아 있는 유령과도 다름없던 주인공 '최준우'를 중심으로 여러 인물과 사건들이 얽히고설키며,
주인공 '최준우'는 물러서고 숨고 자포자기하던 자신의 인생을 조금씩 정면으로 마주하게 되고,
랜덤 채팅의 그녀는 그러한 과정에서 차차 성장해 나가는 최준우와 점점 변하기 시작하는 그녀들의 모습을 때로는 유쾌하고, 때로는 극적이고, 때로는 감동적으로 풀어나가며, 플레이어로 하여금 점점 더 작품 속 세계관에 몰입하게 만든다.
비주얼 노벨 장르의 작품이지만 '조작'이라는 게임적 특성을 고려한 탓인지, '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'에는 '이동' 시스템이 존재한다.
이동 방식은 크게 2가지, '직접 이동'과 '맵을 이용한 즉시 이동'이다.
'직접 이동'은 글자 그대로 키보드나 컨트롤러를 이용하여 캐릭터의 움직임을 직접 조작하는 방식이다.
화면 상에 '캐릭터의 얼굴'이나 '물음표'로 에피소드나 인터랙션이 가능한 곳이 표시되어 있어서, 다음 목적지를 직관적으로 파악할 수 있다.
'맵을 이용한 즉시 이동'은 랜덤 채팅의 그녀에서 이동 가능한 네 곳의 장소 (교실, 학교, 거리, 뒷골목)들 중 가고자 하는 곳을 선택한 뒤, 해당 장소로 직접 이동하는 방식이다.
맵에는 다음 에피소드가 진행되는 장소가 아이콘으로 표시되기 때문에, 직접 이동이 귀찮다면 이 '맵을 이용한 즉시 이동' 시스템을 적극적으로 활용하시면 된다.
당연한 이야기지만 '연애 시뮬레이션'에서 가장 중요한 것은 '호감도'이다.
하지만 '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'에서 호감도는 선택지 기반 아니라,
공략 캐릭터들과 주고 받는 메시지와 SNS 활동 그리고 그녀에게 보내는 다양한 기프티콘 등으로 인해 쌓아 나갈 수 있다.
공략 캐릭터와 주고받는 메시지를 주고받을 때 간혹 선택지가 발생하긴 하지만 그 빈도는 많지 않은 데다 선택지의 내용 또한 어느 쪽이 호감도를 올려 주는 쪽인지 명확하게 보이기 때문에, 딱히 선택지 공략은 필요 없는 작품이다.
그저 잊지 않고 메시지를 확인하고 답장을 보내주는 과정만 성실하게 잘 이행해 주면 된다.
또한 작품 내 '인별'이라는 SNS에는 다양한 인물들의 글들이 꾸준히 올라오는데, 공략 중인 캐릭터의 글에 '좋아요'를 눌러 주는 것으로도 호감도를 얻을 수 있다.
단, 현실에서나 게임에서나 양다리, 세 다리, 문어다리는 금물이다.
공략 캐릭터를 정했다면,
공략 캐릭터가 등록한 SNS 글 위주로만 '좋아요'를 누르데,
해당 공략 캐릭터가 우울하거나 부정적인 글을 올렸을 때는 '좋아요'를 누르지 않도록 신경 써야 한다.
모든 캐릭터에게 '좋아요'를 누르거나 부정적인 글을 작성했을 때에도 무지성으로 '좋아요'를 누르게 되면, 공략 캐릭터를 비롯하여 다수의 캐릭터들이 호감도가 하락하게 된다.
랜덤 채팅에서의 호감도 시스템인 '얼굴 표정'은 호감도 수치에 따라서 달라진다.
캐릭터 호감도 20 이하일 때는 회색의 무표정
- 캐릭터 호감도 21 이상부터는 흰색의 보통 표정
- 캐릭터 호감도 41 이상은 초록의 웃는 얼굴
- 캐릭터 호감도 61 이상은 핑크색의 웃는 얼굴
- 캐릭터 호감도 81 이상은 노란색의 활짝 웃는 얼굴
이다.
호감도 수치가 81 이상만 된다면, 공략 캐릭터 관련 에피소드들을 모두 진행한 뒤에 해피 엔딩을 볼 수 있다.
그러므로 에피소드 진행 과정 틈틈이 공략 캐릭터에게 기프티콘을 선물로 주면, 부족한 호감도를 쉽게 올릴 수 있다.
단, 선물은 하루에 단 한 번만 발송 가능하기 때문에, 수시로 선물을 보내서 호감도를 올려 두는 것이 좋다.
선물 기능은 공통 루트가 끝난 이후인 45일차쯤에 해금된다.
초반 선물 리스트에는 모두에게 동일하게 호감도를 올려주는 아이템들뿐이지만,
공통 루트가 끝난 이후에 맵 상의 '물음표'를 따라서 이동하다 보면 '새로운 선물을 해금시켜 주는 NPC'들을 만날 수 있다.
이렇게 NPC와의 인터랙션을 통해서 추가되는 선물들은 특정 캐릭터의 호감도를 좀 더 올려 주는 스페셜 아이템들이니, 어느 캐릭터가 어떤 선물을 좋아하는지 체크하여 선물을 보내도록 하자.
우리 모두 너무나 잘 알고 있는 사실.
기프티콘을 보낼 때도 물론이고, 데이트를 하려면 돈이 필요하다.
정기적으로 2만 원이라는 용돈이 들어오긴 하지만, 그것만으로는 턱없이 부족하다.
하다못해 PC방을 가려 해도 한 번에 돈 만 원은 기본이다.
그래서 랜덤 채팅의 그녀에서는 아르바이트가 가능하다.
아르바이트 시스템은 공통 루트 진행 중인 24일차쯤부터 오픈이 되며, 오픈 즉시 아르바이트 활동이 가능하다.
초반 아르바이트는 편의점, 분식집, PC방 중에 선택이 가능하며,
아르바이트 경험이 쌓이면 '게임 QA'와 '오컬트 카페', '인형탈 알바' 등을 할 수 있다.
특정 아르바이트는 반복적으로 진행하게 되면 견습 -> 일반 -> 숙련 단계를 거쳐서 '최고' 단계에 이를 수 있다.
스토리 진행 및 호감도를 올리기 위해서 아르바이트가 필요하긴 하지만, 스토리 진행보다 아르바이트를 최우선으로 해야 할 만큼 돈이 필요하진 않으니 그때그때 적당히 필요한 만큼만 진행하면서 게임을 즐기시면 된다.
- 120일이라는 기간 내에 공략 캐릭터의 호감도를 충족시켜야지만, 해피 엔딩을 볼 수 있습니다.
- 작화 및 BGM이 깔끔하고 예쁩니다.
특히 캐릭터별 키스신 일러스트들은 아름답다 못 해 아련하기까지 한 명장면이예요.
- 비속어가 정말 어마무시하게 많습니다.
지금까지 살아오면서 접했던 욕설의 수보다, 이 작품에서 들은 욕설이 훨씬 더 많습니다.
- 섹시한 일러스트들이 있긴 하지만, 뜨밤을 연상하게 만드는 장면들은 없으니 그런 쪽으로는 기대하시지 마세요.

랜덤 채팅의 그녀는 남성향 게임에 대한 내 편견을 완벽하게 깨준 작품이다.
작품 속에 등장하는 개개인들의 굴곡진 서사가 각 캐릭터들에 입체감을 더해 주어서, 어느 순간부터 이 작품이 '남성향'이라는 점도 내가 여자 캐릭터를 공략하고 있다는 것도 아무런 상관이 없어졌다.
좋은 영화, 좋은 소설을 보면서 주인공이 남자인지, 여자인지는 아무런 상관이 없는 것처럼, 이 작품이 딱 그랬다.
사람의 마음은 다 같다.
화성에서 온 남자, 금성에서 온 여자라고들 하지만,
결국 남자가 여자에게 바라는 것도, 여자가 남자에게 바라는 것도 따지고 보면 같다.
우리는 서로가 서로에게 이해받기를 원하고, 사랑받기를 원한다.
내가 사랑하는 사람이 나를 사랑해 주기를 원하고,
내가 힘들 때 그 사람이 나의 의지가 되어 주길 바라는 것처럼,
그 사람이 힘들 때는 내가 그(또는 그녀)의 의지할 수 있는 존재가 되길 바란다.
나를 있는 그대로 바라봐 주길 바라게 되고,
나 역시 그 사람의 있는 그대로의 모습을 바라보길 희망하게 된다.
'랜덤 채팅의 그녀'는 그러한 사람과 사람 사이의 '마음'과 '바람' 그리고 '기대'를 뻔해 보이면서도, 전혀 뻔하지 않은 스토리 속에 정말로 잘 녹여내고 풀어낸 작품이다.
사랑스럽지 않은 캐릭터가 없었고, 마음이 가지 않는 캐릭터가 없었다.
어떤 때는 작품의 주인공인 '최준우'가 나 같았고,
또 어느 순간에는 성아가, 하민이, 유리가, 리라가... 내 마음을 대변하고 있었다.
왜지...
이건 분명 연애 시뮬 게임인데,
나는 이 게임 속의 캐릭터들에게 벌어지는 일들과 상황과 그들이 주고받는 대화들을 보면서,
내 안의 나를 다시 한번 더 투명하게 돌아볼 수 있었다.
예쁜 작화, 훌륭한 보이스 더빙 (& 찰진 비속어의 향연), 잔잔하면서도 예쁜 BGM.
많은 것들이 마음에 드는 작품이었지만, 이 작품의 최고의 백미는 캐릭터 개개인의 고뇌와 그것들을 해소해 나가는 서사와 그들이 내게 들려주는 대사들이라 말하고 싶다.
스토리가 진행되는 동안 하나씩 드러나는 이야기들을 보며 웃기도 했고, 마음 아파하기도 하였고, 슬프고 안타까워 하기도 했다.
특히 저마다의 이유로 각기 다른 '과거'에 사로잡혀 있던 인물들이,
자신을 옭아매고 있던 과거에서 벗어나서, 앞으로 한 발 나아가길 결심하는 장면에서는 찡한 감동마저 느껴졌다.
'지금'의 나에 이르게 한 것은 '과거'이지만,
다다르지 못 한 미래를 결정하는 것은 '바꿀 수 없는 지나간 과거'가 아니라,
지금부터 선택하고, 결정하고, 만들어 나가야 하는 '현재'라는 주제 의식이 특히나 가슴 깊이 와닿았다.
이 작품의 시나리오를 집필하신 분이 어느 분인지 궁금해졌다.

'랜덤 채팅의 그녀'는 미연시 작품이다.
예쁜 여캐들의 호감도를 쌓아서 최종적으로는 해피 엔딩에 도달하는 것이 목표인 미소녀 연애 시뮬레이션.
그렇지만 내게 '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'는 랜덤 채팅밖에 없던 한 소년이 다시금 세상과 사람들을 마주하게 되는 이야기를 다룬 감동의 성장기였고, 더불어 소년의 주변 인물들도 각자의 트라우마를 벗어나 다시금 꽃 피어나게 만드는 치유물이었다.
남성향 유저뿐 아니라, 여성향 유저들에게도 큰 만족감을 줄 수 있는 잘 만들어진 테일즈샵의 신작 비주얼 노벨, '랜덤 채팅의 그녀'를 추천합니다.

단순히 고료 때문이었다면 마음에 들지 않는 작품에 대해서 이렇게 장문의 글을 쓰진 않았을 겁니다.
이 작품이 비속어가 난무한다는 내용은 본문 상에 언급해 놓았고,
비속어가 많아서 당황스럽긴 했지만 비속어 부분을 떠나서 저는 재미나게 플레이한 작품이라, 제가 느낀 점을 그대로 적었을 뿐입니다.
제가 이 작품의 원작을 본 적이 없고,
테일즈샵의 전작도 플레이해 본 적이 없기에,
근간에 제가 플레이 해 본 남성향 작품은 '러브 딜리버리'와 '랜덤 채팅의 그녀' 뿐이지만,
두 작품 모두 플레이 해 보고 재밌다고 생각했습니다.
제가 이 작품을 재미없다고 여겼다면 굳이 불필요한 사족을 읊어가며, 감상편을 길게 남겨 놓을 필요도 없었습니다.
출시 전 등록한 글이기에, 단순히 인터페이스 위주로 소개하는 것만으로도 충분했고요.
