붐버건은 핵 전쟁 이후 구 소련이 배경인 포스트 아포칼립스 게임 "아톰RPG" IP를 가져와 만든 카드 게임입니다.
아톰 RPG의 IP를 가져와서 상당히 게임 안에 아톰 RPG와 아포칼립스의 느낌을 많이 받을 수 있었습니다.
카드 이름과 설명을 보게 되면 아톰RPG에 나오는 지역 이름이나 NPC 이름들로 이루어져있는 걸 볼 수 있으며,
포스트 아포칼립스 느낌을 주기 위해 손으로 그린카드로 카드를 제작했습니다. (아포칼립스라 대부분 험악하게 생겼다...)
또한, 아포칼립스에서 중요한 식량, 거주지를 자원으로 만들어 카드 게임에서 아포칼립스 느낌을 주려고 노력한 것이 보입니다.
게임 방식
간단하게 게임 방식을 설명하자면, 행동 포인트가 매턴 1씩 증가하며, 이 행동 포인트를 사용해 카드를 낼 수 있습니다.
이후 행동 포인트로 식량, 거주지 포인트를 얻을 수 있는 카드를 내고 3개의 자원을 이용해 공격카드를 내게 됩니다.
기본적으로는 상대의 피를 모두 깍으면 승리하고, 그걸 원치 않는다면 모든 자원을 10까지 모으면 경제적 승리를 할 수 있습니다.
또한 카드의 특징을 통해서 전략의 범위도 넓혀갔습니다.
여러 종류의 카드가 있는데 크게 돌연변이, 북부인, 군인, 네임드 카드 및 현대 무기로 이루어져 있으며,
모든 자원을 주는 순무 축제(덱에 1장만 존재)처럼 특별한 카드가 있습니다.
카드마다 사용하는 자원이 달라 자신의 전략에 따라 자원을 어떻게 얻고 파괴하는지도 중요합니다.
돌연변이와 군인은 서로의 자원을 견제하는 구조가 되어 있어 카운터를 칠 수도 있으며,
(돌연변이 = 적 거주지 자원 파괴, 군인 = 적 식량 자원 파괴)
모든 자원을 제거하는 북부인이나, 네임드, 현대무기 카드를 통해 제거도 가능합니다.
그렇기에 상대방 턴을 예측하며 나의 최소 행동과 최대 행동을 계산해고 남아있는 공격 카드의 개수와 종류도 파악할 줄 알아야 합니다.
간단한 룰로 이루어져 있으나 카드의 특징이나 식량, 거주지 자원과 경제적 승리라는
다양한 요소들이 들어가면서 턴 전략 게임을 볼 수 있었습니다.
카드 게임으로서의 매력
Bombagun(붐바건)이 카드 게임으로의 매력이라 하면, 카드 게임의 원초적인 매력이 아닐까 싶습니다.
카드 게임으로써의 매력은 컨트롤이 필요없는 순수한 두뇌 싸움(전략)과 운이라고 생각합니다.
인기 카드 게임들을 보면 자신만의 덱을 만들고 카드를 얻기 위해 과금을 해서 두뇌싸움과 운이 희석된 느낌을 가지고 있는데,
붐버건은 서로 동일한 덱을 사용하기 때문에 처음 하는 사람과 오랜 시간 한 사람(+과금 유저)과 차이가 없으며
덱을 더 강하게 만드는 카드 업그레이드 요소도 존재하지 않습니다.
그렇기에 돈으로 승부가 갈리지 않으면서 공평한 카드게임의 편안한 매력을 느낄 수 있었습니다.
카드도 직관적이라 누구나 쉽게 접근할 수 있다는 점도 매력적인 부분입니다.
최근 온라인 카드 게임을 보게 되면 너무 복잡한 능력을 가진 유희왕이나, 하스스톤의 경우 한 번 보고 이해하기 어려운 카드가 종종 있는데
Bombagun(붐바건)의 카드는 특수한 능력도 없고, 아톰RPG에 나오는 설명을 적어놓아 아톰 RPG를 즐기던 분은 반가울 것 같네요.
확실히 이 게임은 아톰 RPG를 좋아해주시는 게임 플레이어들을 위한 개발자의 선물이지 않나...생각이 들었습니다. (+ 스토브 한글화)
또한 최근 게임들은 시간 제한과 순서로 빠른 반응과 컨트롤이 필요한 경우도 있는데,
시간 제한도 없어 생각할 수 있는 시간도 충분하며 빠른 반응과 컨트롤이 필요없어 스트레스도 덜한 편입니다.
(적당한 매너 플레이는 필요하겠지만요.)

"아톰 RPG의 배경을 넣은 카드 게임"
카드 게임의 매력인 운과 전략을 더 원하는 분들에게 "Bombagun(붐바건)"를 추천합니다!
처음 볼 때는 간단한 클래식 게임이라고 보여서 이걸 어떻게 리뷰해야 하나 싶었지만
점점 하다보니 게임의 디테일이나 카드의 특징들이 겹치면서 전략이 만들어지는 것이 신기했던 게임이었습니다.
흥미로운 게임이었지만, 즐기는 사람이 많이 없어 온라인 게임은 거의 불가능하다는 점이 너무 큰 단점이 있었습니다.
그래도 아톰 RPG를 사용하면서, 카드 게임의 매력도 유지한 게임 "Bombagun(봄바건)" 이었습니다.
