더 다키스트 테일즈 장르

오늘은 제가 직접 플레이 해본 아기자기한 그래픽의 퍼즐 인디게임을 소개하려고 합니다. 정말 재미있는 게임이었습니다. 더 다키스트 테일즈는 동화같은 배경에 무서운 몬스터들과 음모를 파헤쳐나가는 게임입니다.

스토리 요약

플레이어는 봉제 곰 인형인 테디로 플레이를 하게 됩니다. 주인 앨리샤의 꿈 속 세계를 돌아다니며 악마로부터 앨리샤를 구하는 스토리입니다.
조작법

조작법은 W, A, S, D, 스페이스 바, Ctrl, Shift 등 키보드 키로 조작할 수 있습니다.
A, D로 좌우로 이동할 수 있고 스페이스로 지형 사이를 점프하며 오갈 수 있습니다.
S+스페이스로는 해당 위치에서 아래로 점프합니다. W는 지역 내 워프포인트로 이동할 수 있는 기능입니다.

Shift로는 돌진 기능을 사용하여 좁은 길을 직선으로 통과할 수 있습니다.
팁이 있다면 스페이스를 먼저 누르고 방향키를 누르면 더 높이 이동할 수 있습니다.

다행인 점은 죽고 나서 중간 세이브 지점에서 부활하기까지의 시간이 짧다는 것. 또한 클리어한 챕터도 워프포인트를 이용해 해당 지점으로 이동할 수 있습니다. 숨겨진 아이템을 획득하러 갈 때 매우 유용합니다.
잡은 몬스터들은 사라져있기 때문에 챕터를 다시 밀 걱정은 하지 않아도 되었습니다. 물론 에센스를 반복 노가다하는 컨텐츠를 막기 위한 설정이겠지만 컬렉션을 목적으로 하는 유저들 입장에서는 번거롭게 다시 사냥을 하지 않아도 된다는 점.

중간 중간 두뇌를 써야 하는 부분도 있고 전투를 해야 하기도 합니다. 난관을 돌파해야 할 때는 여러 루트를 살펴가야 하는 점, 간단하지만 신박하게 짜여있는 기믹까지 헤쳐나가야 할 탐험 요소도 충분합니다.


스킬 포인트로 스킬 트리를 분배할 수도 있습니다. 무기를 강화할 수도 있고 체력 회복 능력을 강화시킬 수도 있는데요. 꿈결 악령들을 쓰러뜨려 에센스를 획득하면 스킬 포인트를 얻는 방식입니다. 따라서 여러 전투를 거쳐서 더 강한 스펙으로 게임을 진행할 수도 있습니다.


공격은 어떤 걸로 하냐. 튜토리얼이 끝나고 초입부부터는 가위를 얻어 Ctrl로 몬스터들을 공격할 수 있게 됩니다. 하지만 다키스트 테일즈라는 게임은 전투만으로 무조건 돌파할 수 있는 것은 아닙니다.

중간에 숨겨진 스킬도 얻을 수 있는데요. 근데 이 스킬들이 쉬운 위치에 있는게 아니에요.


숨겨진 길에서 몬스터를 처치해야 하거나 특정 챕터를 지나서 능력을 확보해야만 도달할 수 있는 지점에 놓여있기도 합니다. 따라서 히든 스킬이 일종의 컬렉션 역할을 하기도 한다는거죠.


중간 중간에 퍼즐 요소들이 섞여 있어서 특정 기믹을 풀어야 통과할 수 있는 길이 있기도 해요.


공포, 스릴러 느낌이 조금 있으나 생각보다 약한 정도로 즐길 수 있습니다. 물론 중간에 등장하는 몬스터들과 장애물을 보면 잔혹 동화와 유사한 느낌이 들기도 하지만 막상 게임을 해보면 무섭다는 느낌은 잘 들지 않습니다.




다키스트 테일즈에서는 전투하고 다음 길로 나아가기 위해 기믹을 풀고, 중간 중간 등장하는 스토리를 감상하다 보면 어느새 빠져있는 자신을 발견하게 됩니다.
인물 줄거리 안보고 전투 위주로 속도감 있게 게임을 즐기시는 분에게는 게임에 대한 동기 부여가 적을 수도 있을거에요. 게임의 숨겨진 요소를 찾으려는 모험가 스타일 혹은 스토리 보면서 캐주얼 액션으로 게임을 하시려고 한다면 매력적으로 다가올 게임입니다.

그래픽도 동화처럼 아기자기하면서도 기괴한 요소들이 섞여있습니다. 잔혹 동화를 테마를 소재로 퍼즐과 RPG 요소를 모두 즐기고 싶다면 더 다키스트 테일즈라는 인디게임이 괜찮은 선택지가 될 듯 싶네요. 개인적으로는 꼭 한번 해보시는 것을 추천합니다.
