이 업데이트 내에서도 공지되어 있겠지만, 2022년 게임스컴에서 백영웅전의 새로운 트레일러가 발표됩니다.
아직 개발도 한창이고 게임 화면의 구현도 개발 중이므로 변경될 수 있습니다. 대략적인 상태를 보시고 분위기를 느껴보세요.
개발의 근황을 말씀드리자면, 제 자신은 환상 수호전을 개발할 때처럼, '역업'에 의존하는 단계로 진입했습니다.
백영웅전은 100명이 넘는 다수의 캐릭터들이 등장해 군상극을 펼치는 것이 매력인 게임인데, 이를 위해 다양한 장면의 물량에 의존하는 경우도 있습니다.
간단하게 말하면 전투 파티에 들어갈 캐릭터를 선택할 때의 대사를 한 마디씩만 넣더라도 인원 수 만큼 대사를 넣어야 하기 때문에 만들어야 하는 양이 꽤 많습니다.
스토리를 재미있게 하는 주요 요소로는 캐릭터성이 있습니다. 등장하는 인물이 어떤 성격이고, 어떤 가치관을 가지고 있고, 무엇을 좋아하고, 무엇을 목표로 할까, 등의 설정입니다.
그런 부분의 표현들이 게임 시스템에 밀접하게 관련되어 있습니다.
이미 예전에 썼던 파티에 들어갈 때의 대사 하나조차도, 그 캐릭터성의 표현이 되기 때문에 모두 같을 수는 없습니다.
너무 좋아서 파티에 들어가는 캐릭터도 있고, 귀찮아하거나 긴장할 수도 있습니다.
그런 걸 직접 설정해볼 수 있는 게 게임 캐릭터 표현에서 즐거운 부분입니다.
하지만 그렇다고 해도 모든 상황에 대해 다수의 인원 수 만큼의 데이터를 준비하는 것은 힘든 일입니다.
그러한 이유로, 날마다, 「역업」으로 해내지 않으면 안 되는 일에 날마다 고생하고 있습니다.

옛날에 놀러갔던 태국의 여름이 생각나는 나날들입니다.
이런 폭염처럼, 백영웅전의 개발 또한 달아오르고 있습니다.
지난 달 업데이트에서도 잠깐 게임 화면을 보여드렸는데,
그때 공개한 '갱도 던전'도 원래는 이런 투박한 테스트 맵에서 시작했습니다.

이런 뼈대 뿐인 맵에서 가장 먼저 문제가 없는지 확인하고, 이후에 디테일과 이펙트가 더해지면서 화면이 완성됩니다.
그리고 마침내, 여러분에게 개발중인 게임 화면을 직접 보여드릴 수 있게 되었습니다.
과거에 몇번이고 '이제 보여드릴게요' 했지만 실현을 못하고...
