촬영과 현상이라는 기믹을 활용한 퍼즐 액션 게임

필메커니즘은 맵에 드롭된 필름을 획득해 스테이지의 상태를 찍어서 기록하고 복원하면서 열쇠를 얻거나 막힌 길을 지나 최종적으로 깃발에 도착하면 클리어되는 직관적인 방식으로 구성되어 있다. 기록과 복원의 개념만 적응하면 그 외에는 상당히 익숙한 환경이기 때문에 게임에 별도의 적응 시간이 필요 없었다.
기록(Record)과 복원(Restore)의 간단한 예시
장치들이 어떻게 움직이는지 예상해야 하는 특성상, 판단이 실패할 수 있는 상황이 많이 벌어지는데, 필메커니즘은 즉시 패널티 없이 리트라이가 가능하여 스트레스를 덜 받고 게임 할 수 있다. 조금 막혔을 때 굳이 사망할 때까지 버틸 필요 없이 간편하게 바로 재시작을 할 수 있는 점은 퍼즐 게임을 하는 사람이라면 누구나 고개를 끄덕일 정도의 훌륭한 매리트 중 하나이기도 하다.
게임 초반은 하나의 필름으로 진행하지만, 이후 필름이 늘어날수록 퍼즐의 개념 역시 점차 까다로워지기에, 어디서 어떤 필름을, 어떤 순서로 기록하고, 어떤 방법으로 복원하느냐가 클리어의 핵심이 된다. 사용하는 버튼은 몇 개 되지 않아 적응은 간단했지만, 이처럼 맵이 복잡해지며 여러 가지 기믹도 추가되기 때문에, 자연스럽게 끝까지 게임에 몰입할 수 있었다.
특히 만족스러웠던 것은 새로운 기믹이 등장할 때, 그 기믹에 적응할 시간을 충분히 준다는 것이다. 바로 어려운 맵으로 넘어가지 않고 쉬운 맵을 몇 개 주어서 충분히 적응 시간을 주었기 때문에, 새로운 기믹이 등장했을 때 겁먹지 않고 즐길 수 있었다.
게임이 지루하지 않게 만드는 것은 진행될수록 등장하는 새로운 기믹의 비중도 크다. 움직이는 자동차형, 점프형, 밟으면 펼쳐지는 기믹 등등이 천천히 등장했다.
의외의 부분이라면, 후반부로 갈수록 점차 퍼즐의 묘수에 더해 조작의 비중이 커졌다는 점이다. '문제를 풀어보시오'에서 '이 조작을 해내시오'의 개념이 더해지자, 피지컬이 뛰어나지 않은 나는 어느새 필름 두 개를 허공에서 쓰는 동시에 자동 점프 기믹을 세 번 연속 성공해야 하는 맵 등을 온종일 붙잡고 있어야 했으며, 점프가 단순 포물선을 그리는 것이 아니라 가속도를 인식하기 때문에, 연속 점프를 해내야 하는 구간이 나에게는 상당히 버겁게 느껴졌다.
결국 후반 두어 개의 맵을 클리어하는 데 이틀이나 시간이 걸렸는데, 이 같은 상황은 후반부에 발생하기 때문에 어쩌면 난이도가 점차 상승하는 과정에서 당연하게 받아들일 수 있는 부분이지만, 클리어하는 법을 몰라서가 아니라 피지컬이 클리어에 문제로 적용되는 부분은 어디 가서 말하기도 어려운 참으로 슬픈 일이다. 만약 처음 설명한 대로 이 게임을 라이트 유저인 친구에게 추천해 준다면 이 두어 개의 맵은 대신 클리어해 줄 생각도 해야 할 것이다.
추가로 필메커니즘에는 골드를 소모해 확인할 수 있는 힌트 기능이 존재하는데, 힌트가 알려주는 것은 '여기서 시작하세요', '여기서 끝내세요', '여기서 촬영하세요' 정도이다. 사실 이 정도 힌트는 어느 정도 맵을 클리어하다 보면 자연스럽게 눈에 보이기 마련이며, 결국 '그래서 어떻게?'까지 알려주지는 않기 때문에, 큰 도움이 안 되는 만큼 마음 편하게 보는 것을 추천한다.
필메커니즘은 신선한 설정과 잘 짜여있는 맵, 다양한 기믹에 충분히 적응할 시간을 주었던 부분, 스트레스를 감소시키는 무한 리트라이 기능과 200개 이상의 맵까지 분명 다 클리어했을 때 후련함과 만족스러운 기분을 준 게임임은 분명했다. 추천할 만한 게임이냐고 묻는다면 물론 추천한다. 하지만 나에게 한 번 더 해볼래? 묻는다면 망설여지는 게임이기도 하다. 퍼즐 요소만 존재한다면 나쁘지 않겠지만, 이 게임은 후반부로 갈수록 묘수풀이보다 피지컬을 요구하는 부분이 많고, 어려운 맵을 건너뛸 수도 없는 '퍼즐 액션' 게임이라는 부분을 잊지 말아야 한다.
평결: 7/10 (GOOD)
필메커니즘은 짧고 가볍게 게임을 즐기고 싶은 플레이어들에게 추천할 수 있는 게임이다. 신선한 설정과 잘 짜여있는 맵, 다양한 기믹에 충분히 적응할 시간을 주었던 부분, 스트레스를 감소시키는 무한 리트라이 기능과 200개 이상의 맵까지 분명 다 클리어했을 때 후련함과 만족스러운 기분을 준다. 하지만 후반부로 갈수록 묘수풀이보다 피지컬을 요구하는 부분이 많고, 어려운 맵을 건너뛸 수도 없는 퍼즐 액션 게임이기에, 자신이 액션 조작에 능숙하지 않다면 버거운 상황을 만날 수 있다.
