Smilegate announced on the 12th (Thursday) that Korea's representative MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) 'Lost Ark' has updated the new episode 'Kadarum Island', which marks the beginning of the second story.
Kadarum Island is located between the 'Aldebaran Sea', which is the main stage of the second story in the Lost Ark universe, and the 'Sea of Giena', which was the stage of the first part, and is a region ruled by the Holy Empire 'Seikria'. In the first story, adventurers who ended the great war with Kazeros will continue their adventure to uncover the purpose of Seikria by solving a series of incidents behind them.
In particular, this episode is attracting attention as it contains the background story of the new Abyss Dungeon 'Cathedral of the Horizon', which is scheduled to be updated on March 18th. The Cathedral of the Horizon, located in the center of Kadarum Island, symbolizes the authority and faith of Seikria. Lost Ark maximized the immersion of the story by implementing the Cathedral of the Horizon as a space where raids unfold, combining cinematic direction and combat.
The item level to experience the Kadarum Island episode is 1700 or higher, and you must complete the episode 'The One Who Faced the End of the Abyss'.
Meanwhile, with this update, new collection points for the collection contents 'Sailing Adventure' and 'World Tree Leaf' have been added to receive the final reward, and a group support function has been newly introduced that allows you to apply for party finding with a group of 2 to 4 people, enhancing convenience.

위어드 벨루가(Weird Beluga) 사의 독특한 트윈 스틱 슈터 게임, 클리드 더 스네일은 독특한 설정과 동물을 의인화시킨 캐릭터 디자인으로 흥미로운 첫인상을 준다. 하지만 오래지 않아 이 게임은 비참할 정도로 스스로가 가지고 있는 잠재력에 미치지 못한다는 것을 깨닫게 된다. 반복적인 레벨 디자인, 엉성한 그래픽, 그리고 끔찍히도 지루한 적과의 전투는 액션의 속도에 있어서 주인공이 달팽이라는 사실을 새삼 납득하게 한다.
주인공은 클리드라는 이름의 성질 고약하고 냉소적인, 술을 마시고 무기를 개조하는 것을 좋아하는 달팽이다. 무기를 가지고 노는 것을 좋아하는 그의 취미 덕에 클리드는 거주지에서 쫓겨나, 이전 인간 세계의 각종 고철과 잔해로 자신들만의 작은 세계를 만든 돌연변이들과 괴물들로 가득한 포스트 아포칼립스 세계로 보내진다.
컨셉만 보자면, 이 작은 세계는 흥미로운 장소다. 마을과 전초기지는 버려진 컴퓨터 부품으로 만들어져 있고, CD가 가구로 사용된다. 야생을 지나다니다 보면 때때로 인간의 두개골을 발견할 수 있고, NPC들은 이 세상을 떠돌던 오래된 거인들에 대해 언급하기도 한다.
하지만 종종 그래픽 요소가 스스로 단점이 되기도 한다. 전반적으로 조명은 어둡고, 눈 덮인 산이든 건조한 사막이든 상관없이 작은 장소들의 컬러 팔레트는 모두 비슷비슷해 잘 구분이 되지 않는다. 꽃과 같은 효과가 모든 것을 뒤덮어 안 그래도 정신 사나운 화면을 더 어지럽게 한다. 이런 불필요한 효과로 인해 이 작은 세상 속에 있는 엉터리 건축물들의 디테일한 요소가 보이지 않게 된다. 게다가, 카메라 렌즈 위로 달팽이가 기어가기라도 했는지 렌즈는 뿌옇기 짝이 없어 맵의 디테일 요소를 감상하기도 어렵다.

이 방황하는 반항아, 그가 만나는 외부인 집단, 그리고 그들의 작은 세상을 구하고 돈을 버는 것에 대한 그들의 공통된 관심에 대한 이야기는 예상할 수 있지만 즐겁다. 스토리는 탄탄하고 여기저기 재치 있는 개그도 있지만, 심즈 시리즈의 언어를 연상케 하는 스타일의 횡설수설한 목소리 연기는 이야기를 제대로 표현하지 못한다. 또한 현재 일어나고 있는 일과 큰 관련이 없어 보이는 과거의 사건들을 설명하는 독백 장면이 너무 많다. 하지만 당신이 만나는 오합지졸 무리의 캐릭터들은 모두 전형적이지만 재미있고, 다른 NPC들을 얄팍하게 보이게 만들 만큼 잘 쓰여진 캐릭터들이다.
맵을 돌아다니며 구경하는 것 외에도 플레이어는 민달팽이 집단을 폭력적이고 사나운 괴물로 만든 역병을 되돌리기 위해 각 레벨을 뚫고 나가는 데 많은 시간을 할애하게 될 것이다. 클리드의 무기는 화염방사기, 조명총, 산탄총과 같은 무기들로 다양하지만, 문제는 산탄총과 다른 무기들을 제외하면 많은 무기들이 그다지 강력하다고 느껴지지 않는다는 것이다. 메인 블라스터가 거의 모든 작업에 가장 효율적인 도구처럼 느껴지기 때문에, 플레이하다 보면 메인 블라스터의 충전 샷 외에는 거의 사용하지 않게 된다.
적들은 매우 멍청하고, 종종 일직선으로 달려들어 대놓고 사격 과녁 노릇을 한다. 가끔 철탑방패를 든 대형 민달팽이 검투사 같은 적이 나타나면 고정관념에서 벗어나 파훼법을 생각해야 할 때도 있다. 이런 경우 단지 적을 향해 총을 쏘는 것 만으로는 파괴할 수 없다. 하지만 이런 어려움이라고 해 봤자, 수류탄과 기뢰가 있다면 간단히 해결되는 정도에 그쳤다. 더 정교한 보스 싸움을 제외하면, 클리드 더 스네일의 적들의 대다수는 맵에서 하나하나 카이팅으로 제거하는 간단한 전략도 극복하지 못하ㅁ는 단순 난투극일 뿐이다.
레벨 디자인 및 적과의 인카운터 역시 5시간이 달하는 플레이타임 동안 거의 반복적이다. 대부분의 스테이지에는 무기 업그레이드 등을 찾을 수 있는, 종종 갈림길이 나오는 직선의 진행로가 있지만, 이런 통로들은 항상 클리드가 근처의 계속 스폰해오는 적을 소탕하며 핵을 파괴해야 하는 작은 던전 개념인 "소굴" 에 들어가 민달팽이들을 소탕하는 것으로 끝이 난다. 이 구간들은 너무 길게 이어져 있고, 그 사이에 체크포인트가 없기 때문에 죽으면 처음부터 다시 시작해야 한다. 이 시스템은 다른 소굴이 아닌 곳에서도 종종 등장하는데, 재미있지도 않고 발견했을 때 반갑지도 않다.
평결: 5/10 (MEDIOCRE)
"클리드 더 스네일" 이 재미있는 게임인 순간은 아주 드물다. 괜찮은 대사와 평범하지만 만족스러운 스토리로는 얄팍한 게임 디자인, 멍청한 적의 AI, 그리고 짜증나는 전투 시스템을 만회할 수 없다. 다양한 무기 선택과 포스트 아포칼립스에 대한 독특한 해석과 같은 게임의 장점들조차도 화력의 부족과 색채 불량, 그리고 못생긴 카메라 필터로 인해 묻혀 버린다. 만약 당신이 새로운 게임을 찾아 헤매는 트윈 스틱 슈터 광이라고 해도, 이 게임 때문에 굳이 당신의 껍데기를 깨고 나올 필요는 없다.
