We are Narrowdeep, the developers of Inquisitor Shepherd.
It's already March, heralding the start of spring.
Last February, we focused all our efforts on updating the demo and solidifying the game's foundation.
This month, we're sharing the development progress we've been working hard on to bring you good news.
We're sharing the current development status and new information.
1. Chapter 2 Sailing Smoothly and Chapter 3 Draft Commenced
Currently, Chapter 2 is accelerating detailed work to create a more interesting and suspenseful production.
In addition, we have begun drafting Chapter 3 in parallel to improve the overall story's completeness.
This month's work contains a lot of spoiler content that penetrates the core of the story, so we ask for your generous understanding that we cannot disclose the entire work illustration.
Instead, we will briefly introduce two major new characters who will lead the narrative of Chapter 2.
He often confuses Shepherd with his unique way of speaking, asking and answering questions at the same time.
He seems to be plotting something secret in collaboration with the mountain guide 'Linari'.
Vale Walter
He is the faith leader of the Hoshi Prayer House.
He is a mysterious figure who always disappears after the worship schedule, citing personal maintenance.
For some reason, he seems to already know about Shepherd, whom he met for the first time.

I have kept spoilers to a minimum, in my opinion.
- Before we begin -
As someone with no experience in visual novels, I was deeply moved by Cloud Bread Games' previous work, 'French Connection'.
Excellent story coherence, detailed emotional descriptions of the characters, and OST selection that matched it,and even incredibly delicious cutscenes.I'm not one to empathize much when watching a novel or a movie, but I felt heartbroken seeing the protagonist's 'unavoidable situation' and the two heroines who were hurt by it.It's a secret that I drooled and enjoyed the Christmas event in the main story, only to be slapped by Ara and shed tears.
Anyway, if my first visual novel was 'French Connection', then the second one I cleared was 'Who's My Manito'. The previous work was quite well-made, so the second game is also a Cloud Bread production.
1. About cutscenes and SD illustrations.
I liked most of the cutscenes quite a bit. The story cutscenes by 1_Yun, who was also in charge of the illustrations for French Connection, were unparalleled in terms of emotion and atmosphere, in my opinion. Doeun was incredibly pretty. Suyeon was really exciting.
The SD illustrations also hit my taste. The children's emoticons in the text messages were so cute. So cute that I wanted to bite them. The SD cutscenes go without saying. The bread-like atmosphere unique to SD is very well alive. So cute. After seeing the pre-released Doeun pasta SD scene, I chose Doeun's route even before the game came out.
(Doeun eating pasta is incredibly cute!)
2. About the story and its related elements.
As the previous work was French Connection, the story is quite good. If French Connection left a bitter aftertaste because of the protagonist's unavoidable choices, in this work, that bitterness goes to the characters. In my opinion, this is a means for empathy and comfort, and it seems to be a factor in determining the route to the character you are more drawn to later. As a result, the emotional lines of the characters, which change from moment to moment, become the theme and highlight of the main story.
Speaking for myself, my beliefs wavered slightly from Doeun to Suyeon, but ultimately I empathized with Doeun a little more.
And while playing Who's My Manito, you will be able to discover something welcome. The voice of the professor in the liberal arts course during the game is 'someone from the previous work's voice is very consistent, so I was quite puzzled, but after pushing the story quite a bit, I realized why. If you have played French Connection before, I am sure that you will feel a great sense of joy.
Anyway, if you compare the story to chocolate, you can see that the sweetness of milk chocolate that will rot your teeth and the subtle bitterness of dark chocolate are in harmony.
3. Overall review
Was the bitter aftertaste of French Connection too painful? Are you curious about the harmony created by overwhelming sweetness and a little bitterness? Or do you want to see a crazy tug-of-war between two heroines with tremendous charm? I recommend Who's My Manito. I don't think there's anything to criticize about the story itself. I played it because of Cloud Bread Games' reputation, but I think it's a worthwhile game even if it wasn't for that. I think the game itself is great.
So when can we see the French Connection store manager route?
It was a really satisfying work, and the discounted price of 16,110 won was not a waste at all. The playtime of 7 hours and 30 minutes was really valuable. I support Cloud Bread Games' future endeavors!

간략한 게임 소개
온갖 장애물을 헤쳐나가야하는 3인칭 퍼마데스(perma-Death) 챌린지 게임입니다. 국산 게임이라 공식한글화가 되어 있습니다.
정식출시
최근 정식출시를 하게 되면서 새로운 모드가 출시되었습니다. 얼리엑세스 때의 기본 게임은 '도전 모드'의 맵 중 하나로 편성되었고, 이후에 나온 스토리 모드가 정식출시 이후에는 기본 게임이 되었습니다. 스토리 모드를 클리어하면 해당 맵이 도전 모드에 또 추가가 되더군요. 하지만 이 글에서는 얼리엑세스 때의 기본 게임만을 "도전 모드"로, 정식 출시 이후에 추가된 맵들은 "스토리 모드"로 부르겠습니다.
도전 모드

솔직히 저는 게임을 클리어하지 못했습니다. 애초에 이런 류의 챌린지 게임을 좋아하는 편도 아닙니다. 그저 정식출시가 되면 스토리 모드가 나온다기에 그건 할 만할 줄 알고 게임을 샀습니다. 후술하겠지만 저는 무참히 박살났습니다... 게임은 단순히 수많은 장애물을 뛰어 넘으면 됩니다. 타이밍과 점프 실력에 승패가 좌우됩니다. 하지만 그것도 죽으면 처음으로 되돌아가기 때문에 순간의 선택이 모든 것을 좌우합니다.
먼저 도전 모드를 처음 접했을 때, 사진에서 보이듯 저 멀리 있는 성벽에 닿으면 게임이 끝나는 줄 알았습니다. 저는 대략 1시간 동안 무수히 죽었지만 의외로 사람은 적응의 동물이라 조금씩 하다보니 일종의 커맨드를 외우게 되더라구요. 비록 태초마을로 계속 돌아가긴 했지만 조금씩 진전이 있었고 손에 땀이 날 정도의 긴장도 즐기게 되었습니다. 이때까지는 짜증이 나면서도 상당히 재미있었습니다.

겨우 성벽에 닿았지만 이것 역시 또하나의 고난이었습니다. 그래도 이게 마지막일 것이라 생각해서 도전을 이어나갔습니다. 이번에도 역시 무수히 떨어졌지만 그나마 낙사 데미지를 없애는 기능이 있어서 처음으로 되돌아가는 일은 그다지 많지 않았습니다. 이윽고 성벽을 완전히 오르지는 못했지만 딱 한 걸음만 오르면, 딱 회전하는 칼날 하나만 넘으면 완등하는 순간이었습니다. 혹시 칼날을 넘지 못하고 떨어질 수도 있었기에 점프를 해서 너머를 엿보았지만, 거기엔 그저... 또다른 고난들 뿐이었습니다. 저는 그자리에서 죽음을 택했습니다.
보통 점프킹, 항아리 게임 등의 게임도 이정도로 악랄하진 않았습니다. 장애물이 어려운 것도 조금은 있지만 그것보단 맵이 너무 크고 길다는 게 문제입니다. 시작점부터 도착점까지의 거리가 너무 멀어 실패의 리스크가 크고 마음이 꺾여 재도전 욕구도 사라집니다. 유튜브로 맵의 전체를 살펴보았는데 매우 광활했고 스트리머들도 정공법으로 엔딩을 보는 사람을 거의 못찾았습니다.
하지만 의외로 답은 간단합니다. 준비된 함정을 모두 대면할 필요없이 "스킵"하는 것이죠. 게임 내에는 캐릭터를 날려버리는 함정들이 꽤 많습니다. 이것을 역 이용하여 슈퍼점프로 제작자가 열심히 준비한 함정을 모두 뛰어넘는 겁니다. 물론 이 슈퍼점프도 어느 정도 제작자의 의도가 섞인 것들입니다. 이걸 사용하면 정말 빠른 시간 내에 게임의 엔딩을 볼 수 있습니다. 그게 아니더라도 여러 함정에 막히다가 우연히 이런 샛길을 알아냈을 때는 꽤 만족감이 느껴집니다.
하지만 이것 역시 어느 정도 실력이 되는 고인물들이나 쉽게 사용하는 것이고, 생각보다 이런 플레이를 보면 게임이 허무해진다는 단점이 있습니다. 정공법으로 아등바등 분투하던 노력들이 부정당하는 느낌이죠. 그냥 게임 자체를 스킵하는 게 더 현명한 방법일 수도 있습니다.
스토리 모드

이 모드는 "스토리 모드"이지만 이렇다할 스토리는 없습니다. 그래도 특징이라면 스테이지가 구분되어 있어 아예 처음으로 돌아갈 걱정을 조금 덜 수 있습니다. 총 4개의 스테이지로 이루어져 있으며 1, 2 스테이지는 매우 짧아서 거의 없는 셈 쳐도 됩니다. 문제는 3 스테이지부터 감춰뒀던 이빨을 다시 드러냅니다. 여전히 함정들의 알찬 구성을 보여주기에 헤쳐나가기가 여간 힘든 것이 아닙니다.
하지만 "도전 모드에 비해" 시작점과 도착점의 길이가 짧아, 시간과 노력을 (한 10시간 이상) 할애하면 정공법으로도 깰 수 있을 정도입니다. 어느 정도 도전 모드의 단점을 해소한 셈입니다. 또, 실력이 없는 유저들을 배려해 아이템이 추가되었습니다. 이것을 활용해 위험한 순간을 모면할 수 있습니다. 예를 들면 이동속도가 매우 빨라지거나 닭이 되거나 대나무 헬리콥터로 잠깐 동안 부양할 수 있는 등 유용한 아이템들이 많습니다.
그래도 저는 더 이상 하지 않을 겁니다... 앞으로도 이런 챌린지 게임을 하고 싶어지면 이 게임의 경험을 반추해야겠습니다.
