Last week, a visual novel with a very delicious-looking art style appeared on the Stove homepage.

Normally, I would have looked up some reviews and thought about it, but this time I went straight to the purchase window.

However, unlike other visual novels with a very good art style that I thought would be all about romance, the genre was very different.

The content is so touching that you might shed tears, so I recommend preparing a tissue before playing the game.

So, what kind of content is it that you need to bring a tissue for?

Let's get into the review of My Home Companion Girl!

  Game Information / Story  

My Home Companion Girl is about a protagonist who dreamed of going to a good university and having happy days ahead, but in reality, he lives alone at home playing games.Momo, a dog with the ability to turn into a human, and Haru, a cat with the ability to turn into a human,tells the story of what happens when he picks them up.

Even so, she has to sleep and eat like a normal human, which I think is a unique characteristic of this world.

A month after meeting Momo, he meets Haru, a girl who is also a ghost and seems to know a little more.

Haru is a ghost who used to be a cat and says that beings like them are more dangerous than they think,and asks if they can still live together.

Of course, the protagonist says that he can't abandon Momo, who has already become like family, and Haru, touched by his words, is also adopted by the protagonist.

I don't think I could abandon them either.

Ghosts like Momo and Haru are beings like ghosts who wander around because they have regrets in this world, but strangely enough, they don't have any memories of when they were alive,and they need to find a medium to remember their memories.

And another ghost who was with them regained his past memories and went berserk, turning into a monster and disappearing, but he still wants to find his memories.

What happened to this dog and cat? Will the end of regaining their memories only lead to them turning into monsters?

And will the protagonist be able to resolve their regrets and reach a happy ending?

  Key Points of the Game  

The memorial in this game consists of general CG, SD, and episodes.

It was mostly a story-driven visual novel, and the ending branches were concentrated in the second half, so it wasn't a big problem to clear all the CGs.

Also, in the ending branch, when you choose a bad ending, you don't have to start over from the beginning, but you go back to that choice,which made me very happy.

  Thoughts After Playing  

The story of My Home Companion Animal has a lot of messages to convey, and I cried in many parts.

Not only Momo and Haru, but also the protagonist has his own bad past, and the part where they help each other to overcome that past explains the relationship between the owner and the companion animal, who are companions in life.explains the relationship between the owner and the companion animal, who are companions in life.

Especially in the ending part, the use of Live 2D, and the perfect acting of the voice actors,showed an unexpected high-quality scene, which was the best.

It's also my favorite directing.

However, I was a little embarrassed by the fact that there was a background that was of significantly lower quality than other backgroundsamong certain backgrounds.

I guess it couldn't be helped considering it's a small development team, but I can't help but feel disappointed.

But if you think that this actually maximized the directing of the ending,it might be better.

I guess it can't be helped since I have to show the story of all three characters, and except for the protagonist, they have lost their past memories, so I have to show it all at once when they regain their memories.

But I wonder if it would have been better to show the memories in more fragmented pieces, thinking of increasing the amount.

Despite being their debut work, it was an overall high-quality game.  I'm looking forward to their future games.

The play time is about 4 hours,and the ending branches are concentrated in the second half, and even if it's a bad ending, you can go back to that choice right away, so it wasn't too difficult to collect all the cutscenes.
