- Matches in the E7WC Preliminaries will be played in a best-of-three format using the Lunatic Draft system.
* Lunatic Draft is a match format where Pre-Bans accumulate with each round, and all 10 Heroes selected by both players in the previous round are banned.
2. E7WC Registration Details
- After the Preliminaries conclude, an in-game mail containing the E7WC application page will be sent to the top 200 players in the final Preliminaries rankings. Among those who apply, the top 14 players from each group, based on the final Preliminaries rankings, will qualify for the Group Stage.

라는 유머 자료가 있었다. 개구리 군복을 입고 비웃음 짓는 이문식 배우의 모습이 '짤방'으로 곁들여졌는데, 처음 봤을 때 대폭소했다. 하지만 요즘은 웃을 수 없다. 안 그래도 좋은 시절 낯선 곳에서 힘든 복무하는데, 가장 중요한 밥을 제대로 안 준다니 진심 화나는 일이다. 최근 국방부는 공식적으로 부실급식을 인정했다.
기자는 모 독립대대의 1·3종 보급병으로 전역했다. 사람들 먹는 것(1종), 자동차 먹는 것(3종)을 관리하는 병사였는데, 군 생활 중에 아주 곤란한 일이 있었다. 보급관이 휴가를 낸 주에 부대에 계란이 들어오지 않은 것이다. 군수과장 발령이 나지 않아서 편성보급은 하나도 모르는 중대장이 겸임하면서 "너가 나보다 잘 아니까 해줘" 하던 부대였다.
당장 그날 저녁 메뉴는 계란국이었다. 연대 보급병 아저씨는 웃으면서 "저도 잘 모르겠네요" 했다. 보급관이 있었다면 급하게 배차를 내서 어떻게든 계란을 빌려왔겠지만, 일개 병사가 할 수 있는 것은 아무것도 없었다. 계란 없는 계란국을 끓여보자고 취사분대장 선임에게 말했다가는 조리삽으로 고간을 얻어맞을 것이 분명했다.
군대에서 뭔가 꼬이면 굉장히 막막하다.
민간조리원 어머님은 "일단 내 돈으로 계란 몇 판 사올까?"라며 착하지만 위험한 해결책을 제시하는 가운데, 동기라는 것들은 "PX에서 삶은계란을 사서 넣어라", "계란이랑 우유랑 비슷하니 우유를 넣고 끓여라"며 도움 안 되는 소리나 한다. 의지할 유일한 간부인 군수과장 겸임은 중대 체력단련 시킨다고 도망가버렸다. 네이버에 물어볼 수도 없었다. 하긴, 네이버도 계란 없이 계란국 끓이는 법을 가르쳐줄 리 없다.
보급병의 불쌍한 소식을 들은 주임원사가 직접 나서 계란국 대신 컵라면을 배식하기로 하면서 소동은 해피엔딩으로 끝났다. 나중에 알았지만 조류 인플루엔자로 계란 수급이 어려웠던 모양이다.
# 본격 군필자 PTSD 시뮬레이터
인디 쯔꾸르 <전역은 오는가>를 하면서 그때 생각이 났다. 동기들과 PX에서 분대카드로 회식을 하다가 카드를 잃어버린 최진석의 이야기를 그린 게임인데, PTSD 시뮬레이터로 제격이다.
전역한 지 시간이 제법 흘렀음에도 <전역을 오는가>를 하고 있으면 군대 생각이 굉장히 많이 난다. 역시 한국 남성에게 병역의 시간은 가장 깊게 인이 박히는 시간인 듯하다. 하긴, 우리 아버지도 엊그제 이야기하듯 80년대 군대는 어땠는지 소상하게 회상하신다.
군필자라면 모두가 동감하겠지만, 부대에서 물건 분실은 아주 흔하게 일어난다. 이름을 큼지막하게 주기한(써놓은) 팬티마저 훔쳐가는 곳이 막사다. 기자는 전역하면서 무수히 많은 보급품을 잃어버리고, 또 파밍했다. <배틀그라운드>는 에란겔이 아니라 통합막사였다.
그런데 분대카드를 잃어버렸다면 이야기가 다르다. 분대 회식을 할 때 쓰는 그 카드가 사라졌다면 정말 큰 일이다. 당사자라면 모골이 송연해질 만한 일. 분대원이 아닌 사람들과 냉동음식 사먹느라 카드를 긁었으니 심각한 사고다. 발등에 불이 떨어진 본부중대 일병 최진석은 근무를 대신 서주고, 다른 계원들 일을 도와주면서 증거를 수집해나간다.
최진석은 아무리 생각해봐도 관물대에 얌전히 카드를 올려놨다. 이건 절도다. 그렇다면 범인은, 막사 내에 있다.
# 브라보, 잘 만든 게임 인정합니다
<전역을 오는가>가 훌륭한 게임인 까닭은 5,500원이라는 매우 저렴한 가격에 군대에서 겪을 수 있는 온갖 찝찝함과 막막함을 재현시켜준다는 것이다. 5시간에서 10시간 정도 플레이를 제공하니 아주 가성비가 높은 게임이라고 평하고 싶다. 게임을 깊이있게 플레이한 사람이라면, 군대 부조리물에서 느껴지는 역겨움까지 느낄 수 있다.
플레이어는 일주일 동안 낮과 밤, 일과와 근무를 오간다. 스토리를 보고, 틀에 맞춰진 병영 생활을 하고 대화를 나누면서 분실 사고의 실마리를 푼다. 중간에 군대리아를 조립하거나, 확대판 작전 지도를 짜서 맞추거나, 취사지원을 나가 꽈리고추를 다듬는 등 미니게임이 마련되어있다. 미니게임을 성공시키면 100골드를 얻는데, 재화로 할 수 있는 행동은 역시 군대답게 많지 않다.
PX에서 위생을 회복할 가글을 사거나, 스트레스를 풀 냉동음식을 사먹는 정도. 위생이 떨어지면 스트레스가 올라가고, 스트레스가 끝까지 차오르면 탈영하는 엔딩이 나오기 때문에 관리를 해줘야 하지만, 아침저녁으로 열심히 씻는다면 그런 엔딩을 보는 게 더 어렵다. 그런 측면에서 <전역은 오는가>는 단체생활 중 위생의 중요성을 설파하는 게임일 수 있겠다.
하지만 진엔딩을 보기 위해서는 꼭 1,000골드를 모아야 하는데, 특급전사를 받아서 우수분대원이 되어야만 진엔딩 조건을 충족시킬 수 있기 때문이다. 조금 더 설명하자면, 우수분대원이 되기 위해서 시스템적으로 중대장에게 직접 골드를 바치는 충격적인 콘셉트를 가지고 있는데, 게임적 허용으로 눈감아주자.
여담이지만, <전역은 오는가>의 간부들은 천사표 일색이다. 이상하다. 우리 주적은 간부인데.
# 꼬리곰탕&오징어젓 같은 게임
게임의 만듦새는 그렇게 탁월한 편은 아니다. 쯔꾸르 게임으로 전체화면을 했을 때 화면이 깨지며, F12를 누르면 스크린샷이 찍히는 게 아니라 게임이 처음부터 다시 시작된다. (개인적으로 이런 경험도 오랜만이었다) 게임이 갑자기 멈추기도 한다. 일러스트로 차별점을 주지 못해 군대임에도 불구하고 캐릭터들에게 긴 머리를 부여한 것은 대단히 아쉽다.
그러나 <전역은 오는가>는 군대라는 특수적이면서도 공감대를 형성하는 공간을 잘 구현했고, 거기에 '있을 법한' 사건으로 플레이어를 끌어들인다.
전역자 사이에서 '짬밥 넘버 원'을 가릴 때 "꼬리곰탕과 오징어젓" 조합은 절대 빠지지 않는데, 사회의 눈으로 보면 결코 유력한 선택지가 아니다. 기자는 과거 동원훈련 받으러 가서 똑같은 메뉴를 받았는데, 맛이 없어서 깜짝 놀랐다.
<전역은 오는가>는 꼬리곰탕&오징어젓처럼 특수성 때문에 빛을 발하는 게임이라고 비유 함직하다. 아는 독자들은 알겠지만, 꼬리곰탕은 깡통에서 나온 것이고, 오징어젓도 모두 조리가 끝난 것이다. (그래서 저 조합이 나오는 날 취사병들은 대체로 기뻐한다.) 절대로 수준 높은 요리라고 부를 수 없다. 그럼에도 불구하고 한정된 조건에서 발휘되는 '보정효과'란 결코 무시할 수 없다.
끝으로 미필자라면 게이미피케이션 효과를 기대해볼 수도 있겠다. 구급법이나 경계 교육이 게임에 들어가는데, 미필자가 미리 받는다고 도움될 것은 하등 없어 보인다. 그저 진엔딩까지 꼼꼼하게 살펴본 결과, 군대라는 공간은 대략 저런 곳이 맞으니 참고(參考)하라고 말하고 싶은 것이다. 그리고 개발자는 은연중에 군생활 중 겪는 부조리나 고통을 "참고 하지 마라"고 이야기한다.
