로그라이크와 디펜스를 접목한 게임인데요.
#로그라이크 + #디펜스 라니.. 자칫하면 어중간한 짬뽕이 될 수도 있는 시도지만 결과적으로 잘 버무린 덕분에 스팀 미식가들로부터 좋은 평가(90% 긍정적)를 받고 있습니다. "정말 이런 게임을 기다려왔다"는 평가가 지배적.
그렇다면 어떤 방식으로 진행되는 게임인지 가볍게 소개해드리려고 합니다.
● 진행 방법
- 내가 만든 경로를 통해 적들이 이동합니다.
1. 땅 파서 맵 만들기
이 게임의 독특한 점은 시작과 동시에 볼 수 있습니다. 디펜스 게임을 진행하는 맵을 내가 직접 만들 수 있다는 것. 주어진 게이지가 모두 떨어지기 전에 골인 지점에 도달하면 됩니다.
- 전체를 한눈에 보면서 원하는 위치에 바로 배치하는 명일방주. RTS 게임 같은 느낌입니다.
- 반면 캐릭터가 직접 돌아다니면서 타워를 관리해 줘야 하는 리로드. RPG에서 디펜스를 하는 느낌입니다.
2. 디펜스 시작 - 타워 설치와 수리
리로드는 스타크래프트 유즈맵이나 요즘 나오는 디펜스 모바일 게임처럼 진행하지 않습니다. 플레이어는 '데인'이라는 캐릭터가 되어 직접 원하는 지점까지 이동해 타워를 설치해야 합니다.
- 건설하고 수리하고 바쁘다 바빠.. '드론'을 타고 날아다니면 걷는 것보다는 빠릅니다.
타워는 고장도 납니다. 그럼 그 타워에 달려가서 수리를 해줘야 해요. 오버워치 '토르비욘' 같은 느낌입니다. 물론 저는 직접 공격까지는 못하고 CC기를 써주거나 타워를 강화해 주는 식의 스킬 정도는 있습니다.
- 최종 지점까지 몹들이 많이 넘어와도 상관없습니다. '유인 장치'가 파괴되지만 않으면 됩니다.
게임의 목표는 마지막 페이즈까지 적들이 '유인 장치'를 파괴하지 못하도록 막는 것입니다.
3. 플레이어를 정신없게 만드는 패턴
중간중간 등장하는 엘리트 몬스터, 보스는 한 번에 여러 개의 타워를 고장 내거나 아예 박살 내기도 합니다. 또한 위처럼 화염방사기의 공격 범위 내에 타워가 들어가지 않도록 맵을 회전시켜줘야 하는 등 다양한 패턴이 등장하죠. 정말 쉴 새 없이 움직여야 합니다.
4. 보스 처치
마지막 페이즈에 등장하는 보스를 처치하면 다음 스테이지로 넘어갑니다. 한 스테이지에 보통 10~15분 정도가 소요돼요.
● 로그라이크 특성
1. 드론
게임을 시작할 때 '드론'이라는 일종의 빌드를 선택할 수 있습니다. 선택한 드론에 따라 타워, 스킬의 종류가 달라져요. 처음에 쓸 수 있는 드론은 한 가지에 불과하지만 플레이를 거듭할수록 늘어납니다.
예를 들어 처음에 쓰는 보급형 드론은 단일 공격/일직선 범위 공격/아군 타워 강화/약화 공격을 하는 타워를 설치하고 냉동탄(이속 감소)과 정비(타워 즉시 수리) 스킬을 사용할 수 있습니다.
한편 다음에 오픈되는 군용 드론은 부채꼴 범위 공격/빠른 단일 공격/충전식 유탄 공격/아군타워 강화 타워를 설치하고 성질 변환(타워 공속 증가)과 관통탄(기절) 스킬을 사용할 수 있습니다.
여기에서 그냥 내 마음에 드는 드론을 선택해도 되고, 특정 스테이지를 효과적으로 공략하기 위한 전략으로 활용할 수도 있어요.
2. 파츠
파츠는 타워에 장착해 특별한 옵션을 얻게 하는 아이템입니다. 타워 종류별로 1개씩만 주어집니다. 즉 일종의 '영웅 타워'를 만든다고 보시면 될 것 같아요. 보통 타워의 종류는 4가지이므로 파츠도 4가지입니다.
'업그레이드 키트'를 사용하면 파츠 강화가 가능합니다. 이때 새로운 옵션을 붙이거나 기존에 장착했던 옵션을 강화할 수 있습니다. 위처럼 랜덤으로 뜨는 세 개의 옵션 중 하나를 선택하면 됩니다.
3. 발명품
특정 구간에서 특수 재화를 사용해 파츠, 업그레이드 키트, 그리고 발명품을 제작할 수 있습니다. 파츠는 보통 처음 시작할 때 1개를 공짜로 받을 수 있고, 나머지 3개는 이렇게 제작을 통해서 얻습니다.
발명품은 '장비 아이템'이라고 보시면 될 것 같습니다. 들고만 있으면 특별한 능력을 얻는데, 예를 들면 데인의 이동 속도를 증가시켜주는 식이에요. 좀 더 빠르게 돌아다니면서 수리가 가능한 셈.
4. 특수 보급
간혹 뜨는 특수 보급에서 3가지 선택지가 주어집니다. 다음 페이즈에 엘리트 몬스터(좀 더 강한)가 뜨게 만들거나 수리, 강화를 진행할 수 있습니다. 지금 난이도가 쉽게 느껴진다면 바로 엘리트 몬스터를 띄워서 발명품을 파밍할 수 있어요.
- 전 스테이지에서 획득한 파츠와 발명품을 다음 스테이지에 그대로 가져온 모습
5. 게임 오버가 되지 않는다면
내가 획득한 발명품과 파츠를 다음 스테이지에 그대로 가져갈 수 있습니다. 매 판마다 초기화되는 기존 디펜스 게임과 다른 방식이죠.
6. 게임 오버가 된다면
디펜스에 실패하고 유인 장치가 파괴되면 다시 처음부터 시작해야 합니다. 내가 얻은 발명품과 파츠는 전부 초기화됩니다.
대신 스테이지 진행을 통해 획득한 '연구 포인트'로 기본 능력치를 강화한 다음, 전보다 수월한 진행이 가능합니다. 새로 오픈된 드론도 보다 다양한 전략을 추구할 수 있게 해주고요.
● 디펜스를 좋아한다면 꼭 해봐야 할 게임
- 스컬
리로드는 플랫포머나 RPG가 아닌 디펜스가 바탕이라 좀 더 마이너한 쪽에 속합니다. 또한 <스컬>같은 작품과 비교해 매력적인 그래픽이나 컨셉이 있는 것도 아니라서 상대적으로 주목을 덜 받은 게임이에요.
- 망치로 두들기는 타격감이나 스킬 쓰는 맛도 은근히 좋았습니다
하지만 디펜스 본연의 재미를 잘 유지하면서도 참신한 요소가 많고, 현재 얼리액세스 단계이기 때문에 앞으로가 기대되는 게임입니다.
스팀에서 데모 버전을 제공하고 있으니 디펜스 장르를 좋아하면 찍먹 한 번 해보시면 좋을 것 같아요. 스토브 인디에서는 오늘(4월 5일)까지 33% 할인된 가격에 판매 중입니다.
