Today is a review of Smile Gate's new Chaos Zero Nightmare Chapter 2.
I've been pushing through this for about 3-4 days this time as well.
Before moving on to Chapter 3, I'm going to organize my thoughts while clearing Chapter 2 and move on.
The key to Chapter 2 was that the Nightmare was gradually moving towards the center of the empire

3월 25일 발매한 <도프로맨티크 (Dorfromantik)>가 그 주인공이다. 게임은 독일의 4인 인디 개발팀 투카나(Toukana) 인터랙티브에서 개발했다. 제목은 독일어로 '낭만적인 마을'을 뜻한다. 독일어다운 작명 센스다.
게임명처럼 그래픽이 상당히 수려하다. 아기자기한 모델링, 동화책 그림 같은 색감이 인상 깊다. 배치 지역에 따라 숲 타일의 나무가 바뀐다거나, 밭의 농작물이 바뀌는 등의 디테일도 있다. 나만의 마을을 만들어가는 재미가 확실히 담겼다. 게다가 잔잔한 배경음악 덕에 힐링 게임으로 즐기기에 딱 맞다.

<도프로맨티크>는 육각 타일을 이용해서 자신만의 마을을 목가적으로 만들고 성장시키는 건축 전략 퍼즐게임이다.
이 과정에서 타인과 경쟁 요소도 전혀 없다. 특별한 게임 목표나 엔딩도 없다. 육각 타일을 꾸며나가며 가장 높은 점수를 획득하는 게 목표다. 타일을 늘려가며 중세 마을을 꾸며가는 보드게임 <카르카손>의 육각형 타일 버전인 셈이다.
그런데 타일을 마음대로 꾸밀 수 없다. 풍경이 예쁘긴 한데 미묘하게 불편하다. 타일은 랜덤하게 제공된다. 타일을 보관하거나 폐기하는 기능은 없다. 타일을 반드시 배치해야 한다. 특정 타일을 먼저 꾸며나가고 싶어도 다른 타일만 뜨는 경우도 허다하다.
대신, 다음 등장할 2개의 타일이 무엇인지 미리 확인 가능하다. 플레이어는 이를 감안해 타일의 배치를 계획해야 한다. 또한, 플레이어가 배치 가능한 타일 수에는 제한이 있으며, 타일이 소진되면 게임이 종료된다.

타일의 각 변과 중심에는 지형지물이 배치돼 있다. 숲, 밭, 마을, 선로 등 그 종류가 다양하다. 한 종류만 등장하기도 하며, 2~3개씩 섞여 등장하기도 한다. 두 타일을 잇기 위해선, 접촉하는 변에 같은 종류의 지형지물이 있어야 한다. 타일을 최대한 효율적으로, 그리고 많이 이어갈수록 더 높은 점수를 받을 수 있다.
몇몇 타일은 퀘스트를 제공하고 그에 따른 보상으로 타일을 보충해준다. 해당 종류 지형을 일정 개수만큼 채우는 게 목표다. 가령 마을 타일에 퀘스트가 붙었다면, 마을을 특정 숫자만큼 해당 퀘스트 타일과 연결해야 한다.
게임 종료를 막아주는 유일한 방법이다. 그런데 신경 쓸 요소가 많다. 초반에는 퀘스트가 까다롭지 않다. 게임이 진행될수록 퀘스트 요구치와 조건이 까다로워진다. 때로는 표기된 개수를 정확히 맞춰야 할 때도 있다. 몇몇 퀘스트 타일은 서로 연결이 불가능하다.

<도프로맨티크>의 타일 시스템은 단순하다. 타일 배치라는 개념에서 <문명>, <카탄>, 카르카손> 등이 떠오른다. 이 게임들은 타일 간의 시너지가 핵심이며, 타일에서 생성되는 자원이 중요한 게임이다. 그러나 <도프로맨티크>에는 타일에서 자원이 생산되거나, 인접 타일에 보너스를 주는 일도, 인접한 타일들이 새로운 타일로 합쳐지는 요소도 없다.
게임 목표도 단순하다. 화면 상단에는 도전과제가 있다. ▲타일을 X개 배치 ▲X점 달성 ▲특정 타일을 X개 잇기 등의 단순한 목표다. 도전과제를 달성하면 신규 타일과 테마를 사용할 수 있게 된다.

<도프로맨티크>는 신규 타일로 게임 난이도를 조정한다. 신규 타일들 중 일부는 특수 타일에 해당한다. 선로, 강, 호수 등의 특수 타일은 자유로운 배치가 불가능하다. 강, 선로의 방향으로는 다른 타일을 배치할 수 없다. 이미 배치한 타일을 제거하거나, 대체하는 기능도 없다. 이 타일을 배제하고 플레이할 수도 없다.
게임 초반에는 관리해야 할 타일이 적다. 그러나 게임이 진행될수록 난개발의 연속이다. 특수 타일 때문에 타일 배치에는 제약이 생기고, 퀘스트 타일을 깨기에는 타일 수가 모자라다. 공간을 넓혀가자니 타일 연결을 포기해야 한다.
그래도 이쁘게 깔아두면 고생한 만큼 보는 맛이 있다. 경쟁요소가 없으니 머리를 복잡하게 쓸 필요도 없다. 결코 쉬운 게임은 아니지만, 자신만의 마을이 완성되가는 모습에는 표현하기 어려운 성취감이 담겨있다. 보틀쉽, 미니어처, 디오라마를 좋아하는 분에게 적극적으로 권장한다.
시스템 요구사항도 매우 가볍다. 권장사양은 2.5Ghz의 듀얼코어 CPU에 램 4GB면 된다. 그래픽도 엔비디아 GT740M, 즉 일반적인 노트북 사양이면 충분하다. 다만 아직 한국어는 지원하지 않는다.
