Hey,


when Sortie was introduced devs said its to provide alternate playstyle and help you with building decks. Great concept, I love. But the execution? I don't get it at all. Instead of lowering the RNG of the game, they introduced even more of it.


- the weirdest aspect is definitely that you can't chose your team. Thats insane in a game that is based on team synergy and the devs themselves said that team synergy is more important than power of individual characters. And what did they do then? Make you play with random characters against insanely overpowered monsters (at Sortie 30). 

- the difficulty of Sortie its done the most lazy way possible. Just flat stat increase and random negative effects

- your characters are random, your cards are random, boss is random, equipment is random, events are random, there is a higher chance of winning the lottery than predicting what choices you'll be offered in the run which takes all the strategy aspect out of the game.

- you don't even get all the epiphanies for each character so the design for each combatants deck synergy won't come into play most of the time

- if you don't have a character leveled, or don't own her, not only you are punished by not knowing how to play her, you even get her at lvl 50. huh? why? why not max out all characters in Sortie?

- the 4th character forced pick?  doesn't make sense that you can't decline

- there is also a chance your main dps character won't get a single class card offered the whole first act. good luck at the boss

- if the game won't offer you a healer in neither of the 6 picks, it still gives you warning about not being able to finish the run without a healer 

- some of the new Fates are outright a curse which you don't want to pick and if you get the choice to get two rare fates later in the run, these fates can completely ruin your decks without a chance to decline them

- all the currencies are extremely overpriced and limited. You get one in like a month. How many decks its supposed to fix when the effect are also random?

- if you are not using the Reason tokens, you earn close to nothing from a Sortie run and you only get 3 tokens a week.

- Sortie takes longer to run than Chaos so instead of farming Chaos for decks you are supposed to spend even more time in Sortie? great logic


I only have one question - WHY would you chose this route for Sortie and who told you this is fun? At least let us chose the team.

For my experience sortie OK, and it's challenging, i play sortie for unconscious awakening my combatant level up to max 62 . that just for increase few little attributes lol!

but here i found another problem!, player require play sortie for unconscious awakening for getting XP, the problem is lvl 1-> lvl 2 is required 1.5M XP from Sortie!!!

i made post about it because i feel like a problem or typo or just intended make you grind a year for only level up+1 combatant

- well, as previously said, sortie is suppose to be roguelike, so it is to be expected.

- kinda agree, never liked that boosts anywhere, but oh well...

- isn't it 55? Or is it if you DO have a character and just didn't lvl up them. If it is 50 then yeah not good. I'd say even more about this, I'd like to see if the game can see your most underpicked characters(or one you don't have) and mb gave them some kind of boost. Tldr some sort of encouragement for trying new characters.

- You mean the message is annoys you or the fact that you can possibly get no healer? If you mean that you can end up without a healer then I say you can win without one, not sure about 30 risk tho, haven't tried it yet.

- Disagree. You get at 80lvl 0 risk  around 6.6k currency. Which is at least for me feels ok.

- Yeah and you SHOULD use your sanity there, coz it's more sanity efficient for stuff like potential.

- Not sure what I think.

About last one: on one hand I agree that it's kinda a problem, coz yeah yay now we can fast farm decks but we need time for sortie to refine decks, so it's +- same in terms of time. On the other hand this WAS suppose to be a game mode for ppl who wants to play this sort of mods AND have a time, so it's gonna be a strange if they later introduce fast clear for sortie as well. I guessed compromise will be if they introduce more ways to get all the deck editing stuff outside of sortie.

Overall I'd say it's a good start for me. Expected worse tbh. Ofc there are still many flaws, but for a begging I'd say it's good.

Not really that good. Sortie right now only good if you do 1 run per week to exchange all those sanity token for free stuff. Otherwise it's a waste of stamina to try the higher difficulty since you can lose 10 stamina per uncleared zone. And without those reason or 60 stamina you only get mats to unlock research skill tree and stuff you would get from chaos run. Like why would I want to waste my time and possibly my stamina to earn close to nothing ?

The time to do Sortie is better used for Chaos run since I could actually get currency to trade with stuff that would boost my account progress and possibly a decent deck to be used. Though the epiphany trigger rate is worse and Divine opt pool is diluted with unnecessary stuff now. Probably have to do with Sortie so they make it harder to actually get a good deck from Chaos run now.

tagging something as "roguelike" doesn't mean you can just make it completely random. For instance they could show you 15 characters and make you pick 3 for your run. Or even keep this concept, but show you at the very beginning. Like this- this the 6 characters you get to chose from at start and this is the 6 you'll be offered after first boss and these 6 after second boss. Then you can strategize and plan for synergy but now? you just pick and pray

those are just Sortie specific epiphanies, you don't get them in regular chaos run, at least I didn't see any yet

as i remember, sortie is promoting as a 'true' roguelike with higher difficulty and randomness (hence called different than usual chaos) and reason i will seldom go playing this one.

and the way of helping the savedata is by buying stuff on market (which actually kinda heinous act for me, as the one have little time to play game).


by the info that i have like above, it makes sense they make it like that.

hope they have another way for helping savedata though... (that delegate token have lifetime after all).

they worked on it for months, I expected way better. This is like playing Slay the Spire with Rainbow pyramid, except instead of 4 classes, there is 30. Can be fun doing it once or twice, but not as a regular mode
