Chapter 2 development is currently proceeding smoothly without any major issues.
Scenario development is nearly complete, and we are continuing development in parallel with the 4-language localization of the demo version.
This month, we worked on applying the new systems introduced in the last development log, 'Purity' and 'Fracture,' to actual choices.
Purity signifies the path of becoming a powerful and noble messenger of God, upholding the Creum and eradicating heresy.
Fracture signifies the path of becoming a prophet who does not trust the Creum's system and reality, and seeks to forge a true path.
In some choices, players can change Shepherd's values by selecting opinions closer to a specific alignment.
This change will not merely alter a few lines of dialogue but will also influence future gameplay, deduction methods, and the accessibility of certain scenes.
Some choices will only appear when a specific alignment is sufficiently high, and we are designing it so that players can experience entirely different investigation and dialogue methods depending on their perspective on events.
Please look forward to Shepherd's transformation and the weight of choices that will be fully revealed starting in Chapter 2.
2. Various Side Stories in Production
In conjunction with the alignment system introduced earlier, separate side stories will unlock in some situations during dialogue parts.
Side stories do not directly have a major impact on the progression of the main story, but they are being produced to provide a deeper look into the characters' personalities, relationships, and the detailed atmosphere of the world.
While not mandatory content, they will serve as a good reward for players who wish to learn more about the characters and world of Inquisitor Shepherd.
Among the side stories currently in development are some relatively lighthearted and humorous scenes.
For example, we are preparing scenes with a different tone from the heavy atmosphere of the main story, such as the confrontation between the chubby cat and the quacking duck.
Thus, in Chapter 2, you will encounter not only tense investigations and interrogations but also scenes where you can witness the unexpected sides of the characters.
🌐 Demo Version 4-Language Localization Work
The 4-language localization work for the demo version is almost complete.
In addition to the previously released Korean and English versions, the Chinese and Japanese localization work has also entered its final stages.
At the end of April, we were able to showcase the Chinese version at an offline event in Shanghai, China, hosted by our publisher, Neverland Entertainment, and receive on-site feedback.
We are currently conducting final checks and operational QA for the Japanese version, and we plan to update the demo version as soon as the work is completed.
Since we worked based on Korean and English during the early stages of development, more adjustments than expected were necessary when applying new languages.
In particular, there were areas that needed improvement based on language-specific characteristics, such as UI layout, fonts, line breaks, and the display method of some effect texts.
Through this localization effort, we have reorganized our internal structure and improved it to stably support the addition of more languages in the future.
We will continue to prepare so that more players can experience Inquisitor Shepherd in their own languages.
