2월 26일, 오늘은 ‘여름의 끝에 피는 꽃’의 5주년이 되는 날입니다.
‘여름꽃’이 출시된 이후 수많은 계절이 지나왔고, 1주년, 2주년, 그리고 또 다른 2월 26일을 넘고 넘어 5주년인 오늘까지 왔지만, 그런 가운데에서도 ‘5’라는 숫자가 주는 의미는 유독 각별하게 다가오는 것 같습니다.
10년이면 강산이 변한다는 말도 있는데 벌써 그 절반이 지났다니요. 시간이 정말 빠르게 지나오는 것 같으면서도, 그런 가운데 변치 않고 계속 함께 곁에 있어주셨던 여러분들을 생각하면 정말, 그저 깊은 감사의 마음만 들 따름입니다.

또한 이런 5주년이라는 뜻깊은 시간을 맞아, 오랜 시간 늘 한결같은 사랑을 보내주신 여러분께 보답하고자 이번에는 조금 특별한 선물을 전해드리고 싶다고 생각했습니다.
그런 의미를 담아, 올해는 5년만에 처음으로 여름꽃의 신규 오리지널 일러스트를 공개하게 되었습니다.
일러스트는 ‘여름의 끝에 피는 꽃’에서 일러스트를 맡아주셨던 yur1ca(前 ninnin)님께서 그 때와 같이 다시 한 번 펜을 들어주셨고, 상단의 링크를 통해 4K(3840 x 2160) 16:9 해상도의 고화질 월페이퍼로 다운로드하실 수 있습니다.
지난 2021년 ‘여름꽃’이 출시된 이후 5년이 지나 처음으로 다시 이어지게 된 그들의 이야기이기에, 저 역시도 정말 감회가 새롭습니다.
일러스트에 살짝 숨겨둔 자그마한 요소 또한 꼭 알아채주셨으면 하는 바람입니다.
아울러 이번 5주년을 맞아 진행된 3.7 업데이트로, 인 게임의 ‘추가요소’ > ‘이벤트 CG’ 탭을 통해서도 마찬가지로 5주년 기념 일러스트를 만나보실 수 있습니다.
출시 후 5년, 그리고 개발 기간을 포함하면 8년이라는 결코 짧지 않은 여정을 함께 걸어올 수 있어 정말 행복했습니다.
아직까지 MidnightWorks는 잠시 재충전의 시간을 가지고 있습니다. 하지만 훗날 분명, 더 성장한 모습으로 여러분 곁에 꼭 다시 돌아오겠다고 약속하겠습니다. 그날까지, 부디 잊지 말고 지켜봐 주시길 조심스레 부탁드립니다.
