작품으로써의 매력은 있어도, 게임으로써의 매력을 느끼긴 힘들었다. 스토리를 보는 게 아니라, 스토리를 공부한다는 느낌이 너무 심했다. 캐릭터 처음 만들 때는 기대감에 크게 들떠 있었다. 열심히 세계관을 읽으며 진짜 엄청 고민하면서 캐릭터를 선택했는데, 이미 도입부랑 캐릭터 행동이 전부 정해져 있었다. 순진무구했던 고민들을 순식간에 좌절시켰다. 그래도 게임은 시작됐고, 방금 겪은 좌절로 그렇게까지 세계관이 궁금해지지 않아졌는데 자꾸 서술자가 "이건 이거고, 저건 저거야"를 엄청 열심히 가르쳐준다. 마치 아무것도 모르는 제 3자를 위해 설명하듯 말하는 문체는 몰입감을 크게 떨어트렸다. 게임 진행 양상도 자유도가 없다시피했다. 텍스트 읽고 전투, 텍스트 읽고 전투의 반복이었다. 하지만 오히려 이런 진행 방식이 방대한 세계관을 부담없이 즐기라는 배려인 줄 알았다. 대충 텍스트 읽고 뇌 뺴며 쭉 달리기만 하면 되니까, "최소한의 문장만 캐치해서 스토리를 파악해 즐겨야겠다"고 생각하고 있었는데, 갑자기 주인공 시점이 바뀌었다. 심지어 이제는 길을 알아서 찾아서 가란다. 뇌정지가 와버렸다. "아, 이제 자유롭게 캐릭터를 성장시키며 세계관을 체험하는 롤플레잉 방식인가 보다"라고 생각하고 있었는데, 또 아니었다. 모든 것은 이미 정해져 있었고, 유저의 선택을 무의미하게 만드는 요소들이 넘쳐났다. 처음 집에 탈출하자마자 호기심에 북쪽으로 갔다. 북쪽에 영향력이 엄청 높아보이는 몹이 있고, 들어갈 수 있는 집도 있고, 갑자기 세계관 설명을 또 열심히 해줘서, "아, 분명 여기 뭔가가 있겠군."이라 생각했는데, 북쪽은 그냥 모르고 지나쳐도 되는 아무 영향력도 없는 장소였다. 심지어 열심히 전투해도 나중에 원래 주인공 파티를 레벨업 시킨 상태로 돌려줘서 굳이 캐릭터를 키울 필요가 없었다. 마지막으로 레버 당겨서 아무 길도 없는 곳에 처음 보는 슬라임이 있길래, "아, 잡으면 뭔가 있겠군,"생각했는데 또 아무것도 없었다. 작품성이 좋고 나쁘고를 떠나서 게임성에 일관성이 없었다.
