The changes are only in February, and they only mentioned Tressa+Cassius because the problem they are addressing is not damage output, but rather causticity and excessively long turns; They openly stated that they would observe and rebalance anything they considered a threat to the game environment.

How is this not imply damage output? Are you saying it would be fine if after the change Tressa and Cass still could 1 turn a boss as long as it does not take forever?
They probably should also buff every character to have potential to dish out 20-30k+ damage a turn just like them and Mei Lin/Veronica comp then if that's the case.
Oh, and we don't even have Passion support yet mind you.

Then please do the same with Mei Lin situation then. Don't be double standard halfass devs.

Currently, they only highlight Tressa and Cassius for being EXTREMELY exceptional; MeiLin doesn't even do half of what they do; And they also never said that she or other 5-star games are immune to rebalancing;
(Besides, that impression Mei Lin gives is lost when you understand the game better; Characters like Luke, Chizuru, Renoa, etc., achieve similar numbers. )
Do you know what makes Mei Lin seem so superior? The fact that she already shines at E0, while most 5-star have their first power spike at E2 or E3.

You are crazy to say these other character can do the same as Mei Lin. Luke has way stricter setup condition and much lower dmg multiply, Chizuru, Renoa need 3-4 turn setup and even specific deck. And lastly they can only rely on their own card to proc these crazy combo.
Meanwhile Mei Lin has too easy deck to build (like what? delete only 1 basic card, search for unity and spire?) And even spire can proc on OTHER CHARACTER CARD.
If they even dare to talk about nerfing, then consider changing unity cost to 1 and make spire trigger on her card only.

Maybe crazy, maybe from personal experience, anyway, even if they were to nerf Mei Lin, she's much less harmful than Tressa/Cassius; since her deck isn't as narrow, and she doesn't make your turns take 3 or 4 times longer; In fact, just today a guy posted here using OWEN and AMIR to hit 500K damage in the event; Mei Lin may be strong, but she's easily limited, and even if she were nerfed, simply limiting the maximum number of hits from Spire, or making Unity 1AP more

I don't mind about Treese and Cass "rework" because I already knew those 2 were poorly designed and playtested.
Mei Lin is 100% the same case, and MUST BE treated the same with them. I sure the next limited character Sereniel will not be able to surpass or even come close to Mei Lin damage and easy playstyle, and that problem must be addressed immidiately. But devs don't even dare mention anything about her in their roadmap, so I doubt they will ever touch her lmao.
Simply putting mechanic like "Take less dmg after 7-hit" on enemies is an absolute lazy, amatuer and half-ass measure.

The problem of this combo isn't because they are game-breaking OP or anything but it takes too looooong to finish their combo. I was 1 hour in the rift and still had 4 turns left with full hand and was like whatever man, let's tapped out lest I had to sit there doing combo for another hour. It was such a drag.
Devs probably will fix this aspect rather than nerf them. Tressa and Cassius core mechanics is very strong so I don't think they will become unplayable weakling like many people think. Thus, nobody in this game is weak; more rather less popular and people don't bother to get out of their comfort zone and explore other comps.

The question is: This combo IS game-breaking and overpowered, given that there's NOTHING that can deal with it, and even if there were, It would have to be implemented in EVERY aspect of the game, and from the moment an entire game has to adapt to ONE COMBO, then that combo is problematic.

Game breaking is something that can do cycle indefinitely, in which this combo cannot. In fact its engine is very easy to disrupt; partially or entirely if they will
--let's say heal block when player performs action to certain threshold, lock action on certain threshold, convert player's morale gain to be negative value, power spike in accordance with number of player's card play, etcetera.
There are million ways to counter, or shut out even Mika-Cassius-Tressa interaction mechanically speaking. They just seem OP in this type of Rift setup but they are as OP as, say, MeiLin-Veronica if the setup is happened to be in their favour.

You ignored an important point I made... but okay, I'll repeat it:
Yes, there are ways to counter it, but you would have to apply this in MANY areas of the game, since this comp can annihilate everything; and furthermore, you should also assess how this would affect the other characters; Finally, they announced that they will buff healing for no-Mika supports; Do you want a game full of heal block, negative morale, card play limit, undrawable, and the such, for the sake of balancing ONE single combo ?
No, MeiLin - Veronica is not that OP as Tressa; MeiLin has a high damage ceiling, as do Rin, Luke, Renoa+Nia, Kayron (even though he's slower), etc... my Haru, although she doesn't reach 30K, cleans Judas much easier than MeiLin, for example ☠️ Anyway, getting back to the point, the issue isn't simply limiting Tressa+Cassius; we could all think of ways to do that, it's not difficult when you create SPECIFIC mechanics; im sorry, but no MeiLin do 100K dmg turn 1

You can slap tier 2 decks on Tressa and Cassius, and they will outperform tier 0 decks from Mei Lin, Rin, Haru, etc. It takes very little effort and luck for these 4 stars characters.

It's true nobody is truly weak. But Tressa - Mika - Cassius specifically is broken beyond words.
Even without Divine or Neutral card that help you draw, they are too strong. With them, they become absurd.
You just need :
1. Pop Eyed Popper Choose 0 (You could even pick initiation and reset the battle if it doesn't start with 0 card)
2. Shadow Reload Upgrade as many as you can
3. Sources of Water as much as you can and some extra heal card.
That's it. The rest of the card you can just pick whatever you want preferably something to do with draw. And just look at how many Dagger you create and how much Morale stack you have (personally my record was 11 but that's because my save data is lacking)
This is brain dead comp. At least MeiLin + Vero require some steps in order to maximize card usage into finisher. But this trio just need 2 main card with some heals or draws and just pew pew. And I remind you they're 4★ not 5★
