Before we begin

This is 감고냥이, who finally decided to review this after much deliberation over whether or not to review it. The game I'm going to introduce this time is an indie, horror, psychedelic, adventure game called 'Happy Game'. The reason I found out about this game and started playing it is because it was so long ago that I can't remember exactly, but I saw a YouTuber I used to enjoy playing it, and they distributed the game for free relatively recently, so I registered it in my library, and I felt like I shouldn't keep putting it off, so I downloaded it and started playing it.
So before I get into my thoughts, let me first show you a gameplay video of this game.

First of all, the story of this game was literally incomprehensible. The game didn't really explain anything properly (except for the one thing that was mentioned before you entered the game: 'This is not a happy game.')
As a result, each person's interpretation of the story was different... If I were to write down my interpretation of the story, it would be as follows.

"The main character of this game is an adult. However, when he was young, he lost something precious and had it taken away from him, which caused a mental illness (trauma), and instead of treating it with psychological counseling or something like that, he used drugs to escape from reality, so his mind/heart stopped being that of a child. The game is based on the fantasy that the main character sees through drugs. (Because it's a fantasy, the main character's appearance is that of a child, which is the same age as his mind/heart.) In the fantasy, the main character goes on an adventure to get back the precious things he lost (was taken away), and he thinks he's overcome the trauma by getting everything back, but this is just an illusion created by the drugs, and he hasn't truly overcome the trauma, so in the end, the main character in the fantasy is broken once again and trapped somewhere in a dark corner of his mind, and the story ends."

To add a little more, as the chapter progresses, the protagonist's (fantasy) pupils gradually open, and the corpses of beings similar to the protagonist appear throughout the game, suggesting that the protagonist is slowly dying from the drug.
The game's controls were simple. All you had to do was click and drag the mouse.
The game's progression was also simple. [See how the main character lost/had his/her precious item stolen → Recover the lost/stolen item through interaction.] It was a repetition of this.
The game's system... I thought it was just average. (It didn't feel new or fresh.)

The graphics were 2D graphics... bright, yet unpleasant and brutal.
As for the sound, there isn't much, but I think it's placed appropriately in appropriate places. (BGM, sound effects)
There were no bugs, and unlike usual, I won't be reviewing it in a pros and cons or a chat-like format.
It's true that the game is well-made (in terms of graphics), but in many ways it's difficult and feels more like looking at a painting in an art gallery, like "the graphics are unique," rather than "it's fun."
However, if I had to write one thing... it was a game that was good enough to play by just looking up gameplay videos on YouTube without having to buy it.

It's not a game that has a unique system or that you can feel the fun coming from the controls (aside from that, the controls were a bit frustrating). There were almost no elements that would change what you could see depending on who was playing, such as hidden elements or things that were interactive but didn't necessarily require pressing (just to show the cutscenes that played when interacting).

Let me finish. It was an unpleasant but well-made game. At the same time, it was a well-made but boring game.
So, if you're interested, it's a game that's good enough to play even without playing it yourself, just by searching on YouTube and watching videos of people playing it. (The price of the PC version is also expensive compared to the play time.)

I kept thinking about it while writing the post. I've played a game that felt like looking at paintings in an art gallery before, and I reviewed it as fun (but not recommended because of the racism). So I thought about what was wrong...
The bottom line is that that game was blatantly trying to make people laugh, and this game was blatantly trying to make people uncomfortable.
That game, although it deals with death, expressed it humorously and made the story easy to understand, which made the player immersed in the game, but this game thoroughly depicted someone suffering and made the story incomprehensible, making the player stay in a third-person position, that is, unable to immerse themselves in the game.
That's why I thought that game was fun and this game was unpleasant (and there are a few other reasons too).

It's a Tsukur horror adventure game exploring an abandoned hospital.

Terrible ghosts will start chasing Yuna.

Hide from those ghosts, collect items and solve puzzles.

You could say that our goal is to find a way for Yuna to get out of this abandoned hospital!
