If I were to summarize <The Fox's Return> in one line,
'An 8-exit game where you find the difference in the dancing fox'
You could say that.
The game progresses as follows:
When the game starts, the fox will dance for about a minute depending on the correct answer.
After this, whenever the fox dances , if there is anything different from the first time he danced, click the ' Fake ' button.
If nothing has changed, click the ' Real ' button.
If you get the answer right, you move on to the next question, and if you pass 8 times , you clear the game.
In the case of fakes, there are simple problems such as blatant changes in clothing or added accessories.
There are also difficult issues, such as only appearing momentarily during certain motions or changing parts of the dance.
The phenomena discovered in this way are recorded in the 'Monster Encyclopedia'.
This changes the goal of the game from simply clearing the game to filling out the Pokedex of these monsters.
In fact, if you fill out all 65 monster encyclopedias, you will be able to see the true ending .
As for the game's strong point, I think it's inevitable to pick out its visuals .
The character designs and sinister costumes are quite attractive and satisfying to look at.
Additionally, the camera work while dancing also takes care of eye health by highlighting specific areas.
And since it was dubbed in Korean , it was also very immersive.
In particular, when you click on a phenomenon found in the Strange Encyclopedia, the description below the picture is also dubbed, so it's fun to listen to these voices.
But personally, I find many aspects of the game disappointing.
First, the phenomena listed in the Monster Encyclopedia appear repeatedly even after clearing the game .
In other exit 8 games, once you clear it, you will be given priority in subsequent playthroughs to see phenomena that you have not seen before.
Even after clearing the game, previously seen phenomena will appear repeatedly.
In particular, to see the true ending, you have to find all the strange phenomena , which is a shame because you have to do this repeatedly .
Moreover, most of the high-difficulty phenomena appear during dancing, so it was boring to have to watch the same dance for over a minute every time.
Secondly, I have some regrets about the presentation of the in-game phenomenon.
It is also compared to the 8th exit type games, but compared to the original 8th exit, 8th exit shows that certain phenomena are blatantly wrong.
Still, there are impactful scenes, such as waves crashing in or people running toward the player.
On the other hand, the biggest difference in this game's production is that certain parts of the dance movements are different, so there is no particularly outstanding production or memorable part.
Lastly, considering the volume and composition of the game, the price of 17,500 won feels a bit expensive.
First of all, the main dance motion is basically one repetition, except for the motions that change slightly in the middle.
Appearance changes include the addition of accessories, changes in clothing or hair color, and changes in the location of patterns.
Of course, considering the cost of 3D modeling and voice actor dubbing, it is somewhat understandable.
Personally, I feel like the game itself is expensive.
Overall, it was fun to play for the first 30 minutes or so, but after that it started to feel somewhat repetitive and boring, which was disappointing.
In order to see the true ending, I have to see all the strange phenomena, but I've been playing for almost 2 hours now and haven't even seen 20 out of 65...
And since the price is somewhat lacking in cost-effectiveness when purchased at regular price, I recommend purchasing it when it is on sale.
+
Here's a personal tip: Most of the phenomenons with difficulty level 1 are changes in appearance.
You can quickly solve the problem and save time by turning the camera as soon as the dance starts without having to watch the whole dance.
