🏴☠️ Hello. This is Byung-Hoon Jo, CEO of Polymorph.
I am writing to you today because I have something I really want to tell you.
In the middle of a long journey, we sincerely thank all the users who walked with us.
On behalf of the Ifsunset development team, I would like to express my gratitude.
Your voice is our compass
In this journey of creating a game together, the voices of users are
It has become our greatest compass as we navigate the unknown sea.
Numerous suggestions and advice, sometimes even harsh criticism.
I wrote down every single word without missing a single word.
<Your voices are all being recorded.>
The changes may not be noticeable right now, or they may take more time.
But the stories you told me will never be forgotten.
Even at this moment, we are moving quietly but fiercely.
The battle is completely new
Many people have expressed regret about the battle.
lack of depth Absence of stealth play Lack of individuality for each weapon The presence of the fairy system stupid aiSo, rather than just improving it, we opted for a complete rebuild.
Weapon-specific combat style Introduction of the Phantom Limb system Expanded combat mechanics including parrying, executions, and lock-ons AI Behavior and Reaction OverhaulBattles are animation, AI, level design, systems, etc.
There will be a lot of devices that will need to be added, modified and supplemented.
The upcoming combat overhaul may not satisfy you right away.
As always, we will continue to reflect your opinions.
We promise to continuously revise and improve it.
<New Battle Form: Phantom Rim Coming Soon!>

The fairy becomes a real 'partner'
Low-utilization skills, minimal presence.
We have been well aware of the shortcomings of the fairy system.
Now the fairy:

<The Fairy will have a new skill tree.>
Preparing controller update
We are also preparing controller support, which many of you have requested.
Beyond simply ‘working’,
To provide a truly comfortable and intuitive operating experience
We are currently identifying and improving all possible areas of discomfort.
<The controller is being developed smoothly.>
I didn't miss even the smallest change.

<A change appearance section will be added soon.>
<Story encyclopedia will be added soon.>
<Monster Head Trophy will be added soon.>
<Soon all fuel consuming production units will have an on/off system.>
We came this far without knowing anything
When we started developing "IfSunSets", we were a team that knew nothing about game development.
I didn't even know what a game engine was, and I had to learn how to develop by interpreting documents floating around on the Internet, one by one.
This game, which we have been making step by step, is now reaching the mid-level of development that we were aiming for.
The development team that first created the game has now become a team with two years of experience.
My immature fingertips are gradually becoming more skilled.
There have been countless crises in between.
There were countless moments when development almost came to a halt.
Still, I was able to come this far thanks to your support and feedback.
Thank you very much.
"Now is the time to refine content, not expand it."
One user's comment has stayed in my mind for a long time.
"Now is not the time to expand content, but to refine and supplement existing content."
We wholeheartedly agree with that statement.
In fact, we've been focusing a lot of time on reworking and supplementing existing systems, and the battle renewal and fairy system renewal introduced earlier are the results of that.
But at the same time, our goal isn't to simply 'finish' the game.
Our real goal is to create ‘good content’ that can resonate with users around the world.
That's why we chose it.
While refining existing content, we also decided not to give up on new content for the future.
So we made a big decision
In order for Ifsunset to become a game with better content,
We need to develop new content while supplementing existing, creaky content.
But to be honest,
It is difficult to continue updating with the current Early Access status.
But we couldn't give up either of them, so we made a big decision.
Instead, we decided to take on the risk and work hard to secure funding to expand our development staff.
I also took out a loan using my house as collateral. In this process, we have a partner who trusts us.
Smilegate also helped us a lot. We worked hard to secure valuable development funds.
This is 100% invested in development.
(The early access revenue you purchased is also a huge help)
With the funds secured, we have brought in new, capable colleagues.
We formed a team of animation experts and a quality testing team to improve quality.
The costs have increased, the responsibilities have increased, and the risks have increased, but that's okay.
Because we believe that when this game is truly complete, it will definitely be rewarded.
And I promise you
We will never give up until the end.
As planned, we will reorganize the basic framework of fun through a battle reorganization in July.
In October, we will be updating large-scale ocean content so that users around the world can embark on another great adventure.
Of course, in the early stages of the update, our developers' thoughts were reflected a lot, so the answer we found may have been wrong.
But as always, we will listen to you and make corrections quickly.
So that even after 10 years, you can take out IfSunSets again and smile.
Not just adding content,
So that your gameplay can have more heart-pounding moments.
Just like now, or even more deeply than now, breathing together with the users,
We will create a game that will be remembered for a really long time.
And I ask again today.
“Do users really want this?”
To find that answer, we will continue to listen more deeply to your voices.
And the journey ahead..
All these things are filled,
Until the day when a new roadmap unfolds—
We will do our best.
We will make it possible for the world to hear, “A new developer that you can trust and wait for has been born.”
Thank you for your faith, waiting, and support.
Thank you very much.

This post was written subjectively and the information about this game is as follows:
Game name The fox's way back Game Price 17,500 won Game down STOVE Indie: The Fox's Return | STOVE Store Before we begin
Here's a cat who's been waiting for the event to end. (Because I can't give it a good review.) The game I'm going to introduce this time is an indie, Exit 8-like (hereinafter referred to as anomaly finding game) game called '道狐のかえり道' (The Way the Fox Returns). I found out about this game and started playing it when an introductory video was uploaded on the Stove YouTube channel. After seeing the trailer that didn't really tell what kind of game it was + cute animation graphics + events, I thought I'd give it a try anyway, so I bought it, downloaded it, and started playing it.
So before I get into my thoughts, let me first show you a gameplay video of this game.

review
First of all, let me summarize the story of this game as follows.
"The protagonist, who has entered a different world inhabited by monsters, is helped to return to his original world by a fox priestess who happens to be passing by and performs a ritual (dance) to help him return to his original world."
It was possible to summarize it to that extent... but it was correct to say that there was practically no story.
Looking at the dialogue that comes up here and there, the fox priestess and the protagonist are old acquaintances, but for some reason, the protagonist doesn't recognize the fox priestess, and despite that, it seems like the protagonist helps the fox priestess as if she had helped him in order to keep his promise as if it were fate, but in reality, it ended with the feeling that good is good. (In other words, it ended with a happy ending without recovering the bait? Something like that.)
The game's controls were very simple. All operations, such as moving the screen by dragging the mouse (left button) and resetting the viewpoint by right-clicking the mouse, could be done with just the mouse. (Except for the menu window, the menu button is ESC, of course. Also, since both keyboard and gamepad are supported, you can control it in the way you want.)
The game's progression was also simple. [Check the dance without any abnormalities (called detection trials here). → If an abnormality is found, it's fake. If there are no abnormalities, it's real. Or watch the dance until the end. → If you make the right choice, you go to the next level. If you make another choice, you go back to the beginning. → If you get it right 8 times in a row, you see the ending?] It was simple, and had a similar method to general abnormality-finding games.
However, the game's system was not good. It had some bugs, and although it was a good attempt, it was inconvenient due to the shortcomings that will be mentioned later.
The graphics were 3D animation graphics and were pleasing to the eye (character modeling and background).
In terms of sound, the number of BGM was so small that you could count them on one hand, and due to the nature of the game, you have to listen to one BGM repeatedly. If it had been 'music you want to listen to repeatedly', it would have been fine, but it was 'BGM that was just there to keep you from getting bored', so I can't say anything good about it. In terms of sound effects, I had a strong feeling that they were just there where they were supposed to be.
There were bugs. There were bugs related to the modeling of the fox priestess, where certain parts were not loaded properly or were loaded incorrectly (eyebrows changed color, fingernails changed color, bell sounds were heard and then not heard).
This was a very serious bug, as the game was mainly about discovering and reporting abnormal phenomena related to the fox priestess.
Let's skip the small talk and summarize it by dividing it into advantages, disadvantages, and regrets.
-Regrettable Points-
1. Dubbing
-This game only supports Korean dubbing on Stove Indie, and only Japanese dubbing on Steam. In other words, even though it has Korean and Japanese voices, only one dubbing is supported for each platform.
- I feel like it would have been nice if you could choose between Korean and Japanese dubbing by setting the audio language.
-merit-
1. Subject of abnormal phenomenon (taste of sight, focus)
-Generally, while anomaly-finding games focus on finding changes in a specific location, this game focuses on one specific target, the fox priestess, and finding out how the target changes, which felt a bit new.
- At this time, the character modeling was well done and it was fun to look at.
-disadvantage-
A window for selecting scenes to register in the Pokedex
1. Duplication of abnormal phenomenon
- After the release of 'Exit 8', many 'Anomaly Finding Games' with similar rules to the game were released, and convenience and presentation were naturally enhanced.
- For example, in the case of abnormal phenomena that have already been seen, they do not show up until all abnormal phenomena have been found, showing everything they have prepared. However, this game did not do that and appeared repeatedly, so even though I played for over 5 hours, there were abnormal phenomena that I had not seen. (They appeared after about 5 hours and 30 minutes.)
- Of course, I could guess why there were duplicates. In the case of this game, it seems that they did it that way because the photos to be included in the anomaly encyclopedia were taken from the scene at the time the player discovered them... But since that's possible even after finding all the anomalies, I couldn't help but think that it was only intended to increase the play time.
2. Subject of abnormal phenomenon (time, time required)
Anomaly that can be confirmed after 1 minute and 15 seconds (the phenomenon of holding a sword instead of a fan)
- It was both an advantage and a disadvantage. It was definitely fun to watch, and unlike previous games, it was new in that it focused on a specific target, but because of that, there were more annoying points.
- First of all, the play time has been increased. Most of the abnormal phenomena are changes in the fox priestess's behavior or appearance, and some of them only appear after a certain amount of time has passed, so regardless of the player's skill, they had to watch the fox priestess' dance from beginning to end. (The dance lasts 1 minute and 30 seconds, and the last part where the abnormal phenomena appear is 1 minute and 15 seconds.)
- Of course, there are also anomalies that you have to watch for a long time in other anomaly-finding games. However, 'such an anomaly exists' and 'such an anomaly exists so you have to keep watching until the end' are completely different, and from the perspective of having to watch the same thing dozens or even hundreds of times without skipping or rewinding, no matter how good it is to watch, it makes you feel bored and frustrated.
- There was also a problem with the viewpoint. The game provided a limited viewpoint centered around the fox priestess (the target of the anomaly). The problem was that among the anomalies, there were some that were only visible for a split second, and if you missed that moment, there was no way to check what was wrong, and even if you knew it, you couldn't press it and had to start over from the beginning. (This happened quite often.)
- For example, there is a strange phenomenon where the pattern of the fox priestess's panties changes, but the moment when the panties are shown is only 1-2 seconds, and if you miss that moment, it is covered by the tail, clothes, waist decoration, etc., so you cannot report the strange phenomenon and return to the beginning. Therefore, every time you play the game, you are made into a pervert who thinks 'if there's something in the panties, press it right away' and looks through the panties.
3. Bugs
- In a game where you find differences in a specific object, there was a bug that changed the appearance of that specific object.
-There were bugs, such as the nail color being the same as the skin color when it should be pink, or the eye makeup changing from red to brown, and since I didn't know what kind of abnormalities existed, I mistook the bugs for abnormalities and had to start over from the beginning, which was annoying. (I had to start over from the beginning about 3 times because of the bell sound bug.)
finish
Let me finish. It was definitely fun to watch, and unlike other anomaly finding games, it was a new game because you had to observe the behavior of a specific object rather than a location. However, that feature ended up being a disadvantage in that it increased the playing time, and even though I knew something was wrong, I got annoyed because I had to start over from the beginning because I missed a moment that was only 1-2 seconds.

『A masterpiece that combines the strengths of other mystery games 』
💎 First impressions of the game
Compared to 10 years ago, we often see Chinese games actively advancing into the domestic market these days.
In online games that are mainly PC-based, there are open-type RPGs such as Genshin Impact, Ming Dynasty, Star Rail, and Zenres Zone Zero.
Among games that are mainly mobile, subcultures such as Arknights, Mugimido, and Girls' Frontline 2 are exerting influence.
This is no exception in indie games.
Even if you just go to the Stove store page right now, games from Chinese developers like Sand of Salzar and Guigok Palhwang are immediately noticeable.
And the Yangtze River Murders game we're introducing today is also a game developed by Omegames Studio, a developer located in Beijing, China.
Actually, I don't really like Chinese indie games . I have some prejudice against them.
I don't like the sloppy movements, similar character artwork, and the composition that seems to be pushed towards the game's length.
This time too, before I started playing the game, I had that kind of prejudice.
And that prejudice was quickly erased shortly after starting the game.
Today I'm reviewing a Chinese mystery game (in a good way) , called "The Yangtze River Murders."
※ Due to the nature of the review, some spoilers from the early part of the game may be included.
⌚ Gameplay
『Originality and fun are separate stories 』
<Opening video showing beautiful visuals from the beginning>
The game begins with a spectacular opening in Chinese.
The visuals were impressive, with a bloody scene, a young man examining the traces left behind, and a scene connecting the dots.
Except for one thing, you can't see such good quality video anywhere else except when you start the game.
Well... if we try to understand it with a broad mind, it may have been difficult to include it due to time and money issues in indie games, but
Still, it's a bit disappointing when you consider the developer's ability to create such a great opening.
<The main character's visuals are also quite brilliant. It's hard to believe that it's a game aimed at women...>
And as the game started, I was really struck by the main character's appearance .
These days, it's hard to see male characters in games, and there aren't many cases where they're chosen for their good looks.
When I look at other female-oriented visual novel games, it's rare for the appearance to be to my taste, but I feel like the main character's appearance definitely stands out.
The game itself is not a game aimed at women, either in terms of genre or illustrations...
At this point, I would believe you if you told me that this was a new female-oriented game with just one trailer screenshot.
<Actually, the story is simple for a mystery game released this year. Even considering that it's only one chapter.>
Should I tell you a little bit about the story without giving away any spoilers?
In the very beginning, Chapter 1, the protagonist visits a writer and soon collapses.
And when he wakes up, he finds himself clutching a bloody knife in his hand, and at the same time, he is suspected of being the murderer by the investigators who barged in.
The door was locked before they broke in, so it was a closed room before they broke in.
"
The subject of a secret room may be a bit stale these days.
"
In fact, the condition of an incident taking place in a locked room is a material that is often used not only in detective games but also in comics.
Even in the Ace Attorney series, which has been around for 25 years since its first release, incidents in locked rooms have occurred frequently.
It often appears in classic mystery manga such as Detective Conan or Kindaichi, as well as in the somewhat minor manga QED.
So, what about the locked room? I couldn't help but think that it was a bit boring for a mystery game that came out recently .
<Investigators who accept logical approaches more easily than you might think, even though they may seem illogical>
The part that was surprisingly not boring was the investigators who appeared thanks to the setting being China in the late Qing Dynasty.
In fact, even though the job of a bureaucrat is civil service, there have been many cases where they appear as corrupt officials in dramas and other media.
It felt more like it was more about dealing with people appropriately rather than feeling logical .
However, the investigators in this game are lenient about the claims of the person who (in their opinion) appears to be the murderer.
In order to find the real culprit, he ends up hiring that person as a detective, which I found quite amusing.
Plus, I was pleasantly shocked by the way he pointed out flaws in logic and asked for evidence.
<The system of investigating the scene and finding clues is now a cliché in detective games>
To convince such a rational and logical investigator, you need to present solid evidence .
To do this, you need to investigate the scene and obtain clues one by one, and this method is now common in detective games.
In the previously reviewed Lumine Night, we collected circumstantial evidence one by one through conversations with witnesses.
In another game, Staffer Reborn, you experimented directly on the body of an old man or deduced the situation through conversation.
"
It is a universal method of solving a case through clues.
The fun of the mystery itself is certain.
"
But just because it's universal doesn't mean it's not fun.
Through the evidence discovered one by one, we find new clues to solve new questions, and through the chain of events connected in this way.
The thrill of the moment when a case is solved is a unique pleasure that is hard to find in other genres.
<The opportunities to provide clues are not endless>
And if you can just throw out random evidence when doing a deduction, the fun of the deduction is halved.
That's why the method of solving a problem by randomly presenting evidence without knowing the whole story of the incident will not work.
Of course, it is possible if you use the invincible method called Save & Load... but let's make that an exception.
In this game , there is a set number of times you can present evidence (although the number of times you can present evidence may vary depending on the timing).
You should have some sense of the overall story of the incident.
If you have experienced the previously mentioned Ace Attorney series, this system will be familiar to many of you.
Since it is a method that has already been verified, it is certain to increase the fun of reasoning.
<The fact that you can customize the main character's outfit to your own taste is a big advantage of this game>
Now, let's take a quick look at elements other than reasoning.
I personally liked the ability to change the main character's outfit .
In order to maintain immersion, most detective games often progress through the story with fixed costumes.
In this game, you can dress up your protagonist in any outfit you want.
Of course, there is a downside that it can ruin the immersion of the game, but you can also choose clothes that fit the scene.
Above all, I think that the fact that I can see my favorite characters in various forms more than compensates for these shortcomings.
<You can really get a feel of the late Qing Dynasty with illustrations and descriptions that you would see in ancient Chinese books>
And as you progress through the mystery, you may acquire clues or knowledge.
This is a different element from the mystery, but since the main character is active in China or other countries,
From the user's perspective, especially overseas users, there are many cases where they do not have sufficient prior knowledge.
For these users, game companies have introduced a method of knowledge acquisition.
We've added explanations with illustrations that fit the game to make it easier to understand the historical background or brief words that come up.
It may not be a very important part, but I like the way it is a little more considerate to the users.
📌 Game Review
『Highly recommended if you like mystery games
Even if it's not my taste, I'll at least try it... 』
In the introduction, I mentioned that there are many cases of Chinese games entering the domestic market.
If we look specifically at indie games among them, there is something in common across the board.
That's right, they benchmark the strengths of other games and apply them to their own games.
I remember giving a very similar review to what I just mentioned in my previous review of Sands of Salzar.
In fact, this method is not without its drawbacks.
Some users may say, "Where did they copy another game?", while others may say, "I've already experienced it, so I don't want to do it again."
What's great about taking something that works in other games can turn out to be a fatal flaw if it doesn't fit well with your game.
In that respect, this game makes good use of a good system in an appropriate way.
The gauges used in presenting evidence, the method of collecting evidence, the method of conducting reasoning, and so on are not new and are methods we have already seen elsewhere.
However, because it is used 'well and in an appropriate way', it can be felt as 'fun' no matter where you see it.
It's not a new game, but it's a game that provides the pleasure of mystery itself in a familiar way, "The Yangtze River Murder Case" !
