People often say that it's a mix of snake-like and rhythm game, but personally, I didn't feel like it was snake-like.
It is true that you have to avoid enemies coming from all sides and attack, but the player has to press the attack button to fill up the attack gauge and attack.
Personally, I don't like snake-like games because I feel like it's just a simple way to avoid being hit, and it lacks the feel of impact, but this game has a sense of impact (maybe because it's played with a pad).

As it is a rhythm game, the music is good and the hitting sensation is great, so it was fun to press the buttons.
However, I'm not sure if it's because I'm still playing, but it was disappointing that I had to start from the beginning of the chapter to listen to the song I wanted.

As others have said, the game's difficulty isn't that hard.
Sometimes, more characters are given than the ones that can be deployed to the battlefield.

DLC characters aren't necessarily necessary.
If you are worried about the price difference between the DLC and the original, I would recommend buying the original.
