This is "Baksu the Shaman", which I have been making by myself since January 7th.
I am currently developing a 2D pixel game inspired by Korean folk tales and yokai legends.
Although the meaning of Baksu Shaman refers to a male shaman,
I created a happy ending for a sad traditional fairy tale and received blessings...
I named it with this meaning, and the main character, a cat, is also named "Baksu".

어릴 적 모두 우주로 날아가는 꿈을 한번쯤 꾸셨을 겁니다.
우주비행사들의 이야기를 보거나 우주 여행에 대한 이야기를 듣게 될 때면 어린 시절의 추억이 문득 떠오르고는 합니다.
‘콘택트’나 ‘코스모스’같은 칼 세이건의 작품을 보고, ‘인터스텔라’, ‘마션’같은 영화를 볼 때는 우주의 신비함이 느껴지기도 하죠.
우주는 신비로운 공간인 동시에 두렵기도 한 미지의 공간입니다.
외계인이나 UFO가 실존하는지, 우주에 우리가 알지 못하는 또 다른 지구가 존재하는지 등의 이야기들도 나옵니다.
하지만 아마도 제일 무서운 이야기는 우주에 고립되는 것이죠.
우주에 고립되어 다른 누구와 소통도 불가능하고, 탈출만을 꿈꾸지만 작은 희망조차 보이지 않는 이야기가 가장 무섭습니다.
오늘 리뷰하는 게임 Symmetry도 이런 내용을 담고 있습니다.
게임 플레이
우주 대원들이 행성 탐사를 합니다.
한 행성에서 누군가 신호를 보내 대원들을 유인하고, 대원들은 이 행성에 불시착합니다.
다른 누구도 없이 대원들만 행성에 고립되어 생존하며 탈출을 시도하는 것이 이 게임의 메인 스토리입니다.
게임을 시작하면 랜덤으로 세 명의 대원이 주어집니다.
또한, 대원 별로 시작할 때 가지고 있는 능력치도 모두 다릅니다.
세 명으로 시작한 생존은 기간이 늘어날수록 다른 곳에 불시착한 나머지 대원이 합류하기도 합니다.
본격적으로 게임에 들어가면 가운데에 기지가 있고, 좌우로 넓게 맵이 이어져 있습니다.
상하좌우 키 혹은 마우스 휠, 드래그로 이동 및 확대, 축소를 할 수 있습니다.
확대된 상태에서는 대원의 자세한 상태를 확인할 수 있고, 축소된 상태에서는 수리가 필요한 곳, 대원의 종합적인 상태 등을 확인할 수 있습니다.
또한, 화면 좌측 하단에서 현재 가지고 있는 자원의 양을 확인할 수 있습니다.
대원에게 마우스 커서를 가져다 대면 대원의 자세한 상태를 볼 수 있습니다.
왼쪽부터 차례대로 대원 죽이기, 대원 이미지, 작업, 휴식, 식사, 배우기 탭이 있습니다.
작업은 시작할 때 총 세 가지가 있습니다.
먼저 목재를 얻는 작업입니다.
기지 안에서 체온을 유지하기 위해서는 목재가 필요합니다.
맵 좌측에 있는 벌목 공간으로 이동해서 목재를 구해오는 작업입니다.
두 번째는 요리입니다.
포만감이 제로가 되면 대원은 죽게 됩니다.
이에 대원들을 살리기 위해서는 꾸준한 요리가 필요합니다.
마지막 작업은 전자폐기물을 수색하는 것입니다.
생존을 하다 보면 기지 내의 장비들이 망가지는 경우가 많습니다.
이를 수리하거나 업그레이드하기 위해서는 전자폐기물을 꾸준히 획득해야 합니다.
맵 우측의 공간에서 전자폐기물을 수색하고, 기상관측소, 발전소, 기지 내 장비들을 꾸준히 수리 및 업그레이드를 진행해야만 게임의 끝을 볼 수 있습니다.
또, 전자폐기물이나 목재를 얻을수록 대원들이 자원을 얻기 위해 이동해야 하는 거리가 점점 늘어납니다.
여느 생존 게임들과 마찬가지로 대원들은 체력과 허기가 모두 닳게 되면 사망합니다.
대원의 상태를 지속적으로 확인해서 체력 재생 캡슐에서 휴식할 수 있도록 해줘야 합니다.
대원들의 작업 스킬을 업그레이드할 수 있습니다.
작업을 진행하면서 경험치를 얻는 방식이 아니고, 직접 배워야만 작업 숙련도를 올릴 수 있습니다.
이 게임의 목표와 방식은 간단합니다.
앞서 말한 작업들은 단순 반복하여 진행한 뒤 이 행성을 탈출하는 것입니다.
행성을 탈출하기 위해서는 기지 왼편의 비행선을 수리해야 합니다.
양쪽 엔진과 전력 공급 모듈을 전자폐기물을 모아 모두 수리하면 비행선을 타고 탈출할 수 있습니다.
게임 총평
⌜서서히 미쳐가는 인간들⌟
플레이어는 반복 작업을 통해 맵을 수십 번, 수백 번 반복해서 쳐다보게 됩니다.
맵에도 동시에 지직거리며 나타났다가 사라지는 환영이 보이게 됩니다.
환각의 수위는 점점 높아져 누군가가 죽어 있는 모습, 사고가 난 모습 등 끔찍한 것들이 눈에 보입니다.
단순하고 어렵지 않은 게임 플레이에 비해 대원들은 점점 피폐해지고, 이런 환각들을 볼수록 저 또한 피폐해지는 것 같았습니다.
게임 내 대사를 통해서도 점점 미쳐가는 대원들의 모습을 볼 수 있습니다.
의도한 것인지는 모르겠지만 게임 속 대원들이 미쳐갈수록 저 또한 정신을 놓기 시작했습니다.
'5억년 버튼’이라는 논쟁이 있습니다.
수백만 원의 돈을 받는 대신 5억년 동안 아무것도 존재하지 않는 공간에 갇혀 5억년을 살고 나와야 하는 버튼입니다.
그러나 그 동안의 기억은 사라집니다.
아무것도 없는 공간에서 살아가면서 인간은 점점 미쳐갑니다.
이 게임처럼 무언가가 있는 공간이더라도 고립되어 반복되는 생활을 하면서 인간은 미쳐갑니다.
인간은 그 무엇보다 약한 생물인 동시에 살아남는 강한 생물입니다.
다소 허무한 광기에 사로잡혀 피폐해지는 것을 경험하고 싶은 분들, 생존 게임을 좋아하시는 분들께 이 게임을 하시기를 권합니다.
