저는 참 좋아합니다. 그 정갈하고 기품있는 모습이 참 매력적이라고 해야할까요?
뭐 그런면으로 보자면 최근에 로판에서 보여주는 메이드들은 약간 방정맞을때가 많다고 해야하겠네요.
그래서 저는 모리 카오루 작가님이 그리셨던 엠마라는 만화책을 참 좋아합니다.
하지만 이런 스타일보다도 적극적이고 귀여운 모습을 좋아하시는 분들도 많습니다.
그래서 덕질을 좋아하시는 분들 사이에서는 일본의 아키하바라에 있는 메이드 카페에 방문하는 것이 꽤 인기인 듯 합니다.
언제부터 시작되었는지 궁금해져서 찾아보니, 2001년에 오픈한 Cure Maid Café(큐어 메이드 카페)라는 곳이 처음이었다고 하네요.
그리고 오늘 여러분은 망해가는 메이드 카페의 매니저가 되어 가게를 살려야 합니다.
메이드 하나만을 바라보고 시급도 모른채 열심히 일해야 하는 상황!
과연 카페를 순조롭게 살릴 수 있을지는 『폭풍의 메이드』를 플레이하면서 살펴봅시다.

오늘 리뷰하는 폭풍의 메이드는 최근에는 보기 드문 붕어빵 타이쿤류 게임입니다.
20년전쯤 지금은 기억하기도 생소한 피쳐폰 게임들 중에서 이런 장르의 게임들이 많았죠.
쉽게 설명드리자면, 타이밍에 맞춰 시간 내에 버튼을 꾸준히 눌러줘야 하는 게임이라고 이해하시면 되겠네요.
살짝 리듬게임하고도 비슷한 느낌이죠?
게다가 그래픽 자체도 그시절 게임처럼 픽셀 그래픽이다보니 더 그렇게 느껴집니다.
<도움이 필요한 손님을 시간 안에 대응해야만 한다>
사실 손님이 많이 없는 게임 초반에는 그렇게 복잡하지 않습니다.
두세명의 손님에게 메이드를 안내해주는 정도라서 어렵지 않게 진행할 수 있습니다.
하지만, 메이드 카페에 새로운 메이드를 영입하고 메뉴를 늘리면서 가게를 점점 개선할 수록 손님들이 몰려오게 됩니다.
6명의 손님을 받아서 꽉 찰 정도가 되면 한번에 여러 키를 조작해야 할 수도 있습니다.
그래서 여러키를 한번에 눌러도 문제가 없도록 동시입력을 지원하는 키보드가 이 게임에서는 필수입니다.

<메이드가 많아질수록 연출이 바뀌는 재미도 쏠쏠하다>
더 많은 손님을 끌여들이고 더 많은 돈을 벌기 위해 벌어들인 돈을 재투자하는 것은 경영의 기본이죠?
가게를 개선하는 방법은 여러가지가 있습니다.
손님들의 다양한 취향에 맞춰 여러 등급의 메이드를 고용할 수도 있고, 교육을 통해 성격 수치를 강화할 수도 있고,
메뉴를 연구한다면 팬이 모이는 속도나 리더 스킬 충전 속도를 더 빠르게 할 수도 있죠.
골드를 지불하고 새로운 코스튬을 만들어서 입힌다면 메이드에게 추가적인 효과를 부가할 수도 있습니다.
그 외에도 다양한 방법으로 메이드를 육성하는 것으로 영업 효율을 높일 수 있습니다.
<메이드 종류도 많고 모두 개성이 넘치는 디자인>
텀블벅의 게임 소개 페이지에서는 '개성 넘치는 귀여운 도트 메이드'라고 표현을 했는데요, 꽤 공감가는 표현입니다.
메이드의 등급도 다양하지만, 메이드의 종류도 많고 모두 다른 개성을 가지고 있어서 보는 재미가 있습니다.
물론 카페를 운영하다보면 메이드의 체력이 부족하거나, 아니면 성향이 너무 치우쳐 있어서 다양하게 등록하지는 못할 수도 있습니다만,
그런 점을 감안해도 아기자기한 SD 메이드들 덕에 게임의 재미가 조금 더 느껴지기도 하네요.
<메이드마다 각기 다른 리더 스킬을 보유하고 있다>
앞에서 잠깐 리더 스킬에 대해 잠깐 언급했는데요, 간단하게 설명을 드려볼까요?
메이드는 플래티넘, 골드, 실버 등급으로 나뉘는데요, 골드와 실버 등급의 메이드는 채용으로 쉽게 얻을 수 있습니다.
플래티넘의 경우, 스토리 진행을 하면서 모집할 수 있고, 고유한 효과를 가지고 있습니다.
그리고 오늘의 멤버 중 첫번째로 편성 시, 해당되는 리더 스킬을 사용할 수 있는데요,
플레티넘 멤버는 모두 고유한 리더 스킬을 가지고 있으니 클리어 목표에 맞게 배치하는 것이 좋겠죠?
<어디선가 많이 본듯한 대사와 이름들이 게임 플레이에 재미를 더한다>
게임 연출에 대해서도 한번 이야기 해볼까요? 사실 이 게임의 스토리는 거창하지 않습니다.
망하기 직전의 메이드 카페가 있었고, 메이드 덕후인 주인공이 매니저로 채용되며 가게를 키워나가는 이야기죠.
그래도 그 많지 않은 스토리에서도 여러가지 밈이나 만화를 연상시키는 연출이 상당히 많이 나옵니다.
커뮤니티에서 많이 보는 밈에서부터 만화 캐릭터를 묘사하는 표현, 모 프로그램에서 나오는 표현까지 다양하죠.
그래서 게임을 하다가 '어 이거 어디서 많이 본 대사인데...'라는 반가운 느낌이 들때가 많았습니다.

이런 연출들이 '재미있다'고 느껴지는 이유는 게임 자체가 재밌어서 크게 반감없이 받아들일 수 있기 때문일겁니다.
아무래도 게임 자체가 재밌지 않다면, '재미도 없는데 자꾸 이상한 대사로 커버하려고 하네'라는 이야기가 나올테니까요.
오히려 재미만 충분하다면 이런 패러디스러운 요소는 재미를 부가시키는 역할을 합니다.
📌 게임 총평
『정신없는 카페 운영에 갈려나가는 시간』
앞서 게임 플레이 초반부에서 설명드렸듯, 이 장르는 피처폰 시절에 많이 유행하던 장르입니다.
다만 한가지 덧붙이자면, 이 장르가 유행했던 이유가 있는거죠.
한마디로, 정신없이 플레이하다보면 어느샌가 나도 카페 매니저가 된 듯한 기분이 드는 그런 느낌입니다.
하지만, 만약 손님을 접대하는 것만이 게임 플레이였다면 이런 재미를 못느꼈을것 같네요.
이 게임의 재미는 무사히 손님을 접대하는 것 이상으로 카페를 성장시키는 재미가 쏠쏠합니다.
메이드를 한명씩 새롭게 모집할 때, 새로운 메뉴를 개발할 때, 새로운 메이드 복장을 구매했을 때의 묘한 달성감이 좋더라고요.
그런 면에서 아케이드 게임적인 측면에 비해 타이쿤이라는 운영 측면의 재미도 만만치 않습니다.
뭐... 이런 저런 이야기를 많이 했지만 결국 재밌습니다!
몰아치는 손님 때문에 동시에 여러 키를 눌러야 하는 것도 재밌고, 카페를 개선해나가는 것도 재밌어요.
혹시나 그래픽이 가격에 비해 너무 단순해보여서 구매가 망설여진다 하신다면... 한번 플레이해보시는 것 꼭 추천드립니다!
