hello!
This week's news brings us news about the much-anticipated Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remaster. I was worried whether I should cover it or not because it's famous and I think everyone knows about it. Still, I thought it fit the purpose of compiling and sharing the news of the week, so I decided to share it with you.
What news was there in the gaming industry this week? Let’s find out with Gamezzakshik!
⚔️ [News of the Week] Oblivion's Surprise Release 🚫Except Korea🚫 🗼 [Game Review of the Week] Summary of the review of 'Claire Obscure: Expedition 33', which broke the highest critic score in 25 years 🎮 [Console News of the Week] Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Surpass 2.2 Million, Even Posting an Unusual Apology 🤣 [Game Humor of the Week] How much do you know about game packages redrawn with AI? 🎲 [Games and Laws of the Week] Fair Trade Commission, 2.5 Million Won Fine on Game Companies that Announced Inflated Probabilities 😶‍🌫️ [Steam Summary of the Week] Steam is Going Genre-Crushing to Give Discounts 🔊 [Game News of the Week] Short but important industry news
⚔️ [News of the Week] Oblivion's Surprise Release 🚫Except Korea🚫
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is called the best RPG game and is still played by many gamers even after a long time since its release. This remastered version of Oblivion has been released by surprise . There have been rumors recently that a remastered version is in development, but The community was turned upside down by the two words "Available Today" that were adorned at the end of the first public trailer .
Oblivion, a masterpiece that stole many people's sleep and time in the past. This remastered version features much more advanced, modern graphics and physics, thanks to the move to Unreal Engine 5. Likewise, it has become even more fantastic with various improvements, such as a UI that has been cleaned up with a modern sensibility.
Additionally, inspired by the Dark Souls series, combat has been improved to allow for more active defensive options. It also took elements from its sequel, Skyrim, and adopted an "improved leveling" approach.
Of course, it includes all DLC released later. The 'Horse Armor' DLC, which is said to be the origin of the current cosmetic DLC, but was heavily criticized as the worst BM at the time, is still around ㅋㅋㅋ
Even those who played the original version in the past have been praising it, saying that it is more impressive than the one they felt back then. Especially in the case of classic games, because of "nostalgic correction", there are cases where you don't feel the excitement of that time or it's not fun when you play it again. Oblivion is considered to be a game that is still playable today.
It is loved on Steam and has set an incredible record of 190,000 concurrent users .
▷ But Korea is excluded 🚫 ◁
※ Caution: This content is based solely on rumors . Bethesda has not announced an official position as of yet.
“Isn’t Todd Howard a regionalist because he hates Korea?”
In the community, even the so-called 'Kamikaze Todoki Hawado' image is appearing.
While Starfield supports many mainstream languages, including Japanese and French, it does not support Korean.
Korean is ranked 13th or 14th in terms of the number of Korean speakers worldwide, and when you exclude languages of countries with relatively low purchasing power for games (Hindi, Punjabi, Javanese, Uy, Marathi, etc.), it ranks much higher. In particular, Korean has more native speakers (77 million) than French (72 million), which is even dubbed, but Korean was excluded. (Of course, that includes the North Korean population...)
Later, when Starfield's reviews were so bad, there was even a joke that "Todd Howard intentionally left out Korean for the Korean audience." From this point on, I began to suspect that this was intentional discrimination against Korea.
However, Oblivion Remastered's Korean 'regionalism' has once again added strong fuel to suspicions of discrimination against Korea .
The only countries that suffered from regionalism were Russia and Korea, and we can assume that Russia is at war, but Korea's regionalism had no meaning or intention. Even though Russia has a means to purchase a code and register it indirectly, Korea is completely excluded, meaning that even code registration is blocked . If you weren't interested in Korea, it would have just ended with "Korean not supported" like previous games, but there was definitely some suspicious intention behind the regional lock.
Unfortunately, Bethesda has not released an official statement, so various hypotheses have emerged, and refutations and verifications have been made, leading to rumors of anti-Korean sentiments towards 'Todoki Hawado'.
❗There were many cases where the existence of games was 'leaked in advance' according to the Game Control Committee's deliberation records? : This hypothesis is wrong because we provide an exposure prevention service. ❗Since it was previously rated 19+, you thought it would have a negative impact on sales or promotion? : This hypothesis was also wrong, as the original version was sold as 15+. (DLC is 19+) ❗Bethesda games don't sell well in Korea? : There is a "passionate fandom" with a fairly large community and even active users who create Korean localization mods.
In the end, after filtering and filtering, all that remains is a rumor that has no way to be refuted or verified: 'Todd Howard hates Korea.' As a side note, there is also a joke-like rumor that says, 'Todd Howard is expressing his anger because a Korean stole his first love.'
Anyway... This local lock incident is really regrettable.
The game introduction on the official website actually supports Korean. It feels strangely difficult to explain.
As of now, the reason has not been revealed, and only an apology has been posted.
As I was about to upload after writing everything, I started hearing stories ㅠㅠ
This time, the remaster was going to be rated 19+ instead of 15+ because it included all previously released DLC. Unlike the 15-rated version, the 19-rated version must be reviewed by the Game Management Committee, and even if the period is short, it can take at least 15 days (two weeks). The agency (Zenimax) realized this late and is trying to launch it by surprise first and then take steps to launch it in Korea. He said he could have released it on Steam, but he didn't want to commit an illegal act. Plus, they say Korean wasn't originally in the plans.
However, this is still just a rumor.
🗼 [Game Review of the Week] Summary of the review of 'Claire Obscure: Expedition 33', which broke the highest critic score in 25 years
'Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 (hereinafter referred to as CLOP33)' has "renewed its highest score" on Metacritic (92 points) and Opencritic (91 points) in 25 years, and has emerged as a must-play RPG game this year . The highest scores before CLOP33 were 'Splitfiction (90 points)' and 'Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (90)'.
Excluding GTA6, which is scheduled to be released this year, it is considered a dark horse that could even aim for the Game of the Year (GOTY) award. We've compiled a list of what critics praised and what they found disappointing about Cloak 33.
Pros: It's "artistic" in terms of visuals, audio and narrative. Innovative Combat System : A unique combat system that combines turn-based and real-time action, providing a strategic yet immersive combat experience. Artistic Perfection : The visual presentation and sound design were praised as "a slap in the face to France's love of art." Narrative Intensity : Emotionally compelling stories and mature characters engage players and allow them to explore deep themes . A new standard for RPGs : Just as Baldur's III redefined CRPGs, it can be said that it has set a new standard for turn-based RPGs. Startup Developer Achievement : New development team Sandfall Interactive has created incredible results with limited resources (50 people).
Cons: The fatigue from combat is hard to ignore. Combat Challenge : The combat mechanics can be quite tiring for players who are not used to combat. The combat is flashy, but not as fun as it looks. Narrative Flow : Some characters' narratives felt rushed, some choices were hard to relate to, and the ending was particularly weak given the game's grandeur. Repetitive elements : Encountering similar enemies over and over again created boredom, and the story progression felt repetitive . The subtitle of the side story : The linear structure that ends in just one line felt like it created a world to explore, but left out the exploration. Awkward platforming
Overall, I rate Clop 33 as an excellent RPG that satisfies both artistry and gameplay . GOTY was so well-received that it was likened to Baldur's Gate 3, which swept all GOTYs, and was even called the 'next-generation Baldur's Gate 3.' If you like RPG games, this is a must-play game this year , and the experience it provides will be remembered for a long time, and it will go down in the ranks of a 'masterpiece'.
In particular, the development team 'Sandfall Interactive' that developed Clop 33 is a small 'new' development team of about 50 people. With their debut game being this great, their next move is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
However, there were also some who felt that this advantage was unfortunate. They said that the physical limitations of the development team were inevitable as they tried to imitate a masterpiece game with a small number of people. Technical issues that cause graphics to break, such as asset pop-ins or clipping, and things like the inevitable lack of detail .
The flashy and unique battle system has been praised by many media outlets for its fun and depth. However, some have pointed out that the battles are both advantages and disadvantages.
Combat in Clash of Clans 33 requires a variety of "QTEs" like dodging, parrying, and countering, but they often result in frustration due to the harsh penalties for failing . There was an expression that said, "When I saw the ending, I didn't sigh in relief that the incident was over, but rather in relief that I was freed from the extreme fatigue of trying to save my comrades."
Yet this unique and captivating art style, the sound that transcends genres and plays the game itself, and the theme of 'heritage' conveyed through the records of the expedition. And everyone unanimously agreed that the multi-layered narrative and well-written characters were the game's greatest strengths .
I can't help but promote the review I wrote here! This is an article full of thoughts on the game without any spoilers, so if you read it once, you'll get a feel for "what kind of game it is"!

🎮 [Console News of the Week] Nintendo Switch 2 Pre-Orders Surpass 2.2 Million, Even Posting an Unusual Apology
The number of pre-orders held ahead of the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 has exceeded 2.2 million in Japan alone, proving the Switch 2's immense popularity . Of course, considering that there are people in Korea who reserve dozens of seats on their own, it is a bit of a stretch to view all those reservation numbers as actual demand.
Nintendo showed confidence by saying that they had "prepared sufficient quantities", but They even posted an unusual apology, saying they were "very" sorry for the "exceedingly large number of reservations" .
Applicants who are eliminated in the first round of reservations will automatically be accepted (carried over) to the second round of reservations.
Some people were suspicious, thinking, 'Isn't this a kind of marketing?' As for the notice that 'it may not be possible to handle the second round of reservations', it seems that the actual prepared quantity is woefully insufficient .
The number of overseas pre-orders has not been revealed, but judging from the many reports of duplicate winners in Korea, it seems like this is limited to Japan.
However, related articles and communities are still filled with complaints about the “price difference between domestic and overseas products.” Some Koreans who are fluent in Japanese even certify that they made reservations through the Japanese version. The domestic price difference of almost 150,000 to 200,000 won still seems unacceptable.
Even in Korea, if you make reservations at every single sales outlet... there will be some exaggeration in the number of reservations.
▷ ❗ Beware of “Switch 2 Winner” Scam Emails
Meanwhile, Nintendo has also issued a warning to be wary of fake emails that are currently circulating saying, “Congratulations! You have won a Nintendo Switch 2.” At the time of posting the notice, the email hadn't even been sent out, and Nintendo also said that the lottery results hadn't even been confirmed yet due to emergency maintenance on the My Nintendo Store.
If you receive a similar email, we strongly recommend that you check whether the ‘sender of the email’ and ‘link address’ are unusual . Similar cases may occur overseas, including in Korea, so those who have pre-ordered the Switch 2, please be careful!
Reported phishing email. You can see that it contains a lot of very suspicious addresses (nintnd) and links .
▷ The inevitable resale appears ◁
In Korea , a reseller of the Switch 2 has already appeared. They have registered it for sale by adding 100,000 won to the regular price.

Surprisingly, many people have been certified as duplicate winners, so I think there is sufficient supply domestically.

Some people wonder, what's wrong with reselling in a free market economy? First of all, it is wrong from a 'moral perspective' as it infringes on the legitimate rights of other consumers.
This is the worst behavior for gamers, as it indirectly leads to a further increase in prices while saying, "Are you sure you can afford it?" The current terrifying prices of graphics cards are a prime example of the worst results that reselling can produce .
Market distortions due to reselling can be fatal to producers' demand forecasts and the market economy. As a result of this extreme, the Great Depression of 1920 (bankruptcy of resale), the Dutch tulip panic (overproduction due to resale), and the Japanese real estate bubble (demand was wiped out by resale premiums), The current rice shortage problem in neighboring countries (the Japanese agricultural cooperatives are monopolizing reserve rice for resale, causing suffering for the entire Japanese people) The fact that there is only one reseller can surprisingly be fatal to the market economy .
If this becomes a serious social problem, the item in question may become subject to the “Prohibition of Monopoly Act.” Legally, it is an act that is one step closer to being illegal. Of course, the profits generated in the process are subject to income tax reporting as defined by the National Tax Service, but of course, since there are no honest resellers who report income tax, it is already illegal.
So, I recommend that you do not buy resale items even if you really want them. Because there are buyers, there are resellers.

🎲 [Games and Laws of the Week] Fair Trade Commission, 2.5 Million Won Fine on Game Companies that Announced Inflated Probabilities
The Fair Trade Commission has taken action against two game companies, Gravity, which operates ‘Ragnarok Online’, and Wemade, which services ‘Night Crow’.
Each party was fined 2.5 million won (total of 5 million won) for the unfair trading act of inflating the probability and was ordered to take corrective action.
'Ragnarok Online', in the process of selling probability-based items, sold items at a lower probability than the announced probability or up to 8 times higher . Wemade also announced inflated odds ranging from 1.76 times to up to about 3 times higher than the announced odds.
However, the Fair Trade Commission ordered Gravity and Wemade to admit to the violations and refund the money to consumers who purchased the products. Considering that consumer damage compensation measures have been implemented, the level has been adjusted to a penalty surcharge rather than a fine . Note) A surcharge is a fine for a minor violation, and a penalty surcharge is a sanction to recover unjust profits.
At that time , the refund amount was known to be 124 million won for Gravity and 362 million won for Wemade .
In addition, it was ordered to submit “specific and effective measures to prevent recurrence of such probabilistic fraud” within 30 days.
It is certainly a legal measure with a basis, but it is a 'minor violation' to treat the problem of probability manipulation that is rampant throughout the industry. As a gamer , this can only be disappointing.
Even though I got a refund ending this time, what if I hadn't been caught? Each game company stands to make hundreds of millions in profits, or even more than the refunded amount.
Due to the “no production cost” nature of digital goods, refunds only return the money and rarely involve additional expenses such as production costs. In the end, the actual loss to the game company was only a 'fine of 2.5 million won and a small amount of labor costs.'
It ended up giving off a very typical 'low risk, high return' vibe . In the end, the picture of making hundreds of millions of won in profit and then escaping with a few million won seems to weaken the effect of prior deterrence against probability manipulation.
Although the Geguanwi is more enthusiastic about other things now, the reason the Geguanwi came into being was because of the probability-based gambling problem represented by the 'Sea Story' incident. I think we need to take stricter measures against these gamers and odds rigging.
😶‍🌫️ [Steam Summary of the Week] Steam is Going Genre-Crushing to Give Discounts
From the 21st to the 28th, we're kicking off a box pushing game festival on Steam . It is a festival of games with box-pushing mechanisms, represented by the so-called 'Sokoban'.
This is merely a subgenre of 'puzzle game', or it is not even enough to be considered a genre. We've started a sale on games that have a 'box-pushing mechanism' that is just a 'means'.
As expected , Steam, the chain discount machine, creates a festival that didn't exist before to offer discounts.
But there's already a sale going on for puzzles, so I think this is a bit of a brain-sucking sale! Oh, and you can push boxes through portals too, so is this a big picture to discount portals? (They don't actually discount portals.)
▷ The truth about a game that suddenly appeared and disappeared ◁
“Age of War,” a tower defense game that brings back many childhood memories, has suddenly become available for free on Steam . As the fun of the memories was still there, it was registered for free, and many people from all over the world came to play, and word of mouth spread and it became popular... This time it suddenly disappeared from the Steam store again.
In fact, the recently released 'Age of War' was released without the permission of the original author .
The developer who released Age of War stated that they received a DMCA (copyright infringement) notice from Valve, explaining the reason for the removal from the store. He also said, “I invested my free time, my money, and my effort to list it on the Steam store. I also released it for free for anyone to play, and I did not make any profit from it. I did not even know that copyright infringement would be filed.”
The mainstream reaction is, 'It's wrong to upload someone else's work while ignoring copyright, even if there was no profit.' On the other hand, there were many people who felt regretful inside.
▷ Steam Summary of the Week ◁
It can be summarized into two games : 'Oblivion's solo and Clop 33's defense.' Since it's the game I mentioned above, let's skip it.
The Hundred Line is struggling to get good reviews. The maximum number of concurrent users is just over 6,000, but the evaluation is 95% positive, and it is also receiving the evaluation of being a 'god game' . Kazutaka Kodaka, who created the impressive masterpiece Danganronpa, participated and created a unique art style/unique story, and a dark yet interesting game style.
The game takes a strange and experimental approach, mixing together visual novels with choice-based gameplay, board game mechanics like Bluemarble, and puzzle-like turn-based combat.
However, it does not support Korean. This is the biggest problem. ㅠㅠ
Although it has the trending flame 🔥 attached, avoid Darkest Days. The trailer looks like it's going to be a pretty fun zombie survival game, but...
The completion level is poor, like a mobile game ported to PC. The battle and graphics are from Sudden Attack, and the BM is from a Korean mobile game. After seeing only the attractive trailer, it was even evaluated as “a scam reminiscent of The Day Before.”
Currently 20% positive = mostly negative .
▷ Steam to introduce display and filter of 'accessibility' information
As the demand for game accessibility grows day by day, Steam has decided to take the lead in introducing 'accessibility information display' and 'accessibility filters' .

Adjustable font size, subtitle support, color adjustment, joystick or voice-to-text conversion, voice input support, etc.

For people who can't use some features or need specific support, this is an option to let them know if the game supports that feature.

This will make it easier and more accurate for gamers with disabilities and those with limited PC experience to find the games that are right for them .
And just having these systems in place, This will be an opportunity for developers to at least consider “accessibility” at least once while creating their games.
I think this is a great step towards universal, barrier-free gaming.
