DUNGEON INN EP.1
‘I’m screwed… .’
Sarah muttered to herself. Next to Sarah, her fellow cats, Bam-i and Butter, were tied up and shivering. Sarah also had both of her hands tied. Sarah turned her gaze slightly to look around. The spirits were holding spears and had surrounded Sarah and her group. The sight of the blue flame-like spirits forming a tight net seemed to break the will to escape just by looking at them. However, compared to the being looking down at Sarah from the front, the net was nothing.
“Are you guys? You dared to trespass into the depths of my dungeon.”
The giant dragon snorted. Sarah almost fainted, but barely managed to hold it in. There was a saying that if you come to your senses even in a tiger’s, or rather dragon’s, lair, you can survive. Sarah barely managed to raise her head and look at the dragon. Sarah’s eyes met the dragon’s. Bam! Sarah closed her eyes again.
‘Are we… going to become the dragon’s dinner like this?’
Sarah, Night, and Butter Set are peddlers. They make a living by selling supplies to adventurers near a dungeon that suddenly appears one day. They may not be rich, but they are able to make ends meet.
Of course, if you ask if they are ordinary merchants, they are not. Currently, dungeon exploration is dominated by two guilds. The 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild', and every single adventurer around the dungeon belongs to one of the two without exception. The problem is that the 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild' are not on good terms. When they meet, they fight as if they are going to kill each other. In fact, there are frequent cases of casualties.
And Sarah and her party were doing double sales between the two guilds. One day, they sold their goods in front of the Sea Guild's base, and the next day, they sold their goods in front of the Mountain Guild's base. This was possible because the base locations of the Mountain Guild and the Sea Guild were completely opposite, and they used the exact opposite routes. For Sarah and her party, this kind of double sales, which they didn't get caught for, was a satisfying routine in its own way.
*
'I went into the dungeon to avoid the storm, but I didn't know this would happen!'
As Sarah had thought, the current situation was caused by trying to avoid the storm. The wind and rain were so strong that she was trying to take refuge in the dungeon for a while, but for some unknown reason, she ended up entering the depths. Afterwards, she was captured by the spirits and dragged to the dragon, the owner of the dungeon.
To sum up, I had terrible luck.
“I let those so-called adventurers wander around to some extent… but they came all the way here and brought trouble upon themselves.”
The dragon's angry gaze poured out on Sarah and her party. Sarah had a feeling. If this were to continue, it would definitely be dinner. No, it would be dinner, and I might be trampled to death here. Sarah quickly rolled her eyes. What should I do to survive?
“Now, just a moment!”
Sarah raised her hand and said in a trembling voice.
“I’d like to offer you a good deal…. I can multiply the gold and silver treasures you have by several times!”
The dragon's eyes, filled with anger, were filled with curiosity. Gulp, Sarah continued talking while observing the dragon's reaction. Cold sweat kept running down her forehead. Beside her, Bam-i and Butter were looking at her as if to say, "Are you crazy?"
“We’re remodeling some of the facilities in this dungeon into an inn! We’ll be able to provide rest to the many adventurers who come to explore the dungeon, and we’ll even be able to earn gold in return.”
The curiosity in the dragon's eyes grew stronger. Sarah caught on and started talking nonstop. The road to the dungeon was long, so everyone would want to rest, and the inn could take as many items as the adventurers who entered the dungeon brought. Sarah was just saying whatever came to mind, but at first glance, it sounded pretty reasonable.
"for a moment."
The dragon cut Sarah off. Sarah froze in her impassioned speech.
“I understand your intention. I also agree that it is a good suggestion. However, I heard from the spirits that the adventurers who visit the dungeon are divided into two groups. And the two are not on good terms, to the point where they fight until blood is drawn whenever they meet.”
Sarah's expression hardened with each word the dragon spat out. Before she knew it, sweat was running down Sarah's face like rain.
“If you let both of them into the inn, they’ll naturally fight, and then the inn won’t be able to operate normally. But if you only do business with one side, you’ll only make half the profit, and it’s worse than not operating at all. What are you planning on doing?”
Sarah took a deep breath and thought about her words. Finally, after much deliberation, she came up with an answer.
“It’s okay as long as you don’t get caught.”

DUNGEON INN EP.2
“Butter, is the ocean room ready?”
“Of course. You can go and fall asleep right now.”
Butter gave Sarah a thumbs up in response to her question. Sarah's ambitious inn plan was being pushed forward at the speed of light, and was now on the verge of opening.
'Haha... I expect the results to be commensurate with the investment.'
These were the words the dragon left behind as he handed over the contract. As he had said, the dragon had provided initial investment funds, spirits to use as manpower, and furniture. Thanks to this, the entrance to the dungeon had been reborn as a neat inn.
“It’s really done. Okay, let’s get ready to open the door!”
“Hmm… No matter how I think about it, it seems like the risk is too great.”
Just as Sarah was about to post the business, Bami spoke with a worried look in her eyes. Sarah waved her hand at Bami.
“Sounds good. Just as long as you don’t get caught, right? The only accommodation right in front of the dungeon! A chance to prepare for the dungeon exploration! Wouldn’t it be tempting for an adventurer?”
At Sarah's optimistic appearance, Bami lifted his monocle with his trembling forelegs.
“Well, it sounds plausible… but there must be a reason why no one does it. What if the adventurers happen to run into each other near the inn? If they get caught doing double business, they might end up getting killed by the adventurers before the dragon.”
“We must do our best to prevent that from happening.”
"ha…."
Bami sighed, resting his head on his front paw. Butter patted Bami on the shoulder.
“Somehow it will work out! And if it weren’t for Sarah, we would have ended up in the dragon’s stomach anyway.”
“That’s true, but….”
“Don’t worry too much! We’ve always done double sales. We’ll be fine. Plus, it won’t be crowded from the start, so it’ll be worth a try.”
Sarah also encouraged Bami. Bami looked anxious, as if her worries still hadn't gone away.
“And who knows? If the other party is a big shot, they might be able to get more if the hotel business is successful? You could even try to hit the jackpot! It’s your chance to become a billionaire!”
Instead of pupils, gold coins appeared in Sarah's eyes. Bam shook his head in resignation.
“Well… it won’t be discovered from the start.”
*
So, Sarah and her party started the business of 'Dungeon INN'. Adventurers from the 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild' passed by on the road on either side. Bami made a surprised expression.
“If you both come to the inn, won’t you run into each other?”
“It’s okay~ It doesn’t look like they have any intention of coming in. It seems like they don’t even know what kind of building it is.”
Bami let out a sigh of relief at Sarah's words.
“If no one comes, isn’t that a problem in itself? If we don’t pay the dues by the end of the month, the dragon may do something to us.”
Butter said, sipping water. Butter was right. If no one came, there would be no fight, but there would be no money to be made. Then the three would become the dragon's dinner.
“Should we put up a signboard for promotion?”
Sarah made a signboard and gave it to the spirits. The spirits picked up the signboard and placed it on the path that the 'Mountain Guild' adventurers walked.
And after some time, two adventurers came into the inn entrance one after another.
“I came here after seeing the sign posted at the intersection. Is this the inn that was said to be in front of the dungeon?”
“Welcome, guests! This is the Dungeon INN, the only resting place for adventurers in front of the dungeon!”
Sarah greeted the first guest with a smile. The guests received their room keys and entered the 'mountain room'. Naturally, the inn had a completely divided structure. The guests using the 'mountain room' would stay there and leave without even knowing the existence of the 'sea room'.
End of episode 2. Continued in next episode.DUNGEON INN EP.3
On the night of the first day of business, the three of them high-fived for their successful(?) first day of business. Sarah's hand and Butter's front paw collided, making a dull sound.
“I told you I could do it~!”
“Okay. Should we put up signs on the street corner tomorrow too?”
“Yeah, let’s keep it up for another day. If we keep it up for two days, the sign will fade, so we’ll take it down for a bit, inspect it, and then set it up again. Ugh… Come to think of it, it’s a shame to only set up the sign….”
Sarah came up with countless ideas after that. Some of the good ones were put into action right away, such as setting up a food stand at the entrance to sell food, installing energy drinks to make customers come faster, and setting up a spinner with prizes to attract customers. Before long, numerous facilities were installed on the entrance to the dungeon.
“Hehehe… Money is rolling in~!”
Sarah counted the gold, the corners of her mouth turning up to her ears, and at the same time, she thought about the results her idea had brought about.
They made a nice side income by selling food at the stall . When they sent the food and stall to the spirit , they returned with a lot of gold coins. It seemed that the adventurers were walking a little slower because they were full, but they didn’t go back or lie down to sleep.
The energy drink had the expected results. Adventurers who drank the energy drink were able to quickly reach the dungeon with their tireless stamina. Some adventurers passed by before the sign was even set up because they were so fast, but the positive aspects outweighed them.
The wheel was set up with a prize at stake, and adventurers stopped in front of it, forming a crowd. It was so exciting that the adventurers didn't even think about moving forward. It was like stopping the adventurers' steps with a dopamine party.
If things continued this way, it wasn't just a dream to smoothly pay the dragon, upgrade the inn facilities to attract more guests, and even become a billionaire. As Sarah was lost in such happy fantasies, night came.
“The idea is good, but… where did that spinning wheel prize come from?”
“Huh? Just give us the items we have in stock. We have a lot in the warehouse.”
“What?! That’s our business capital!”
“If the inn becomes a huge hit, it will become something we don’t need~”
“Butter… His eyes are wide open. You say something too.”
Butter looked away from the table, sipping water.
“Isn’t that okay? And if you’re going to do it, you should do it with everything.”
“…….”
Bami seemed speechless and just hit his forehead with his forepaw.
*
Kkudangtangtang!
A loud noise was heard just outside the inn. Sarah and her party were startled and ran to the door. Through the slightly open door, they could see the adventurers of the 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild' facing each other.
“What are these smelly things?”
“Is that something to talk about, people who smell like dirt and walk around with a lot of dirt on them?”
“What? Are you done talking?!”
“Let’s have a game right now.”
As soon as they heard the conversation, Sarah and her party began to shake their gazes rapidly. It seemed like both adventurers entered the inn at the same time and met at the entrance.
“I clearly set up the facilities so that they wouldn’t come across each other!”
Bam-i said with a look of despair. As he said, various facilities were installed on both sides of the road leading to the dungeon to reflect the adventurers’ gait. If they were calculated correctly, they should not have met since they would change them according to the adventurers’ progress. There must have been a mistake somewhere.
Butter looked at Sarah, his forelegs raised and ready for battle.
“What are you going to do now? Just tell me now. I can buy you enough time to escape.”
“It’s okay. I just had a great idea.”
Sarah looked at the spirit. When their eyes met, the spirit tilted its head.
“Spirit, if we fail, you’ll be in trouble too. How about becoming a guard for a while and intervening in that fight?”
The spirit tilted its head repeatedly as if it needed further explanation.
“If we get caught doing double-crossing, it’ll be a big deal, but if rumors spread that the ‘Sea Guild’ side is on the ‘Sea Guild’ side and the ‘Mountain Guild’ side is on the ‘Mountain Guild’ side, then it’s okay. When a fight like this breaks out, we help one side out a lot to gain their favor!”
The spirit nodded and went out to get his weapons. Then, he started to help the adventurers of the 'Sea Guild' fight against the adventurers of the 'Mountain Guild'. The spirits' power was beyond imagination, and soon the adventurers of the 'Mountain Guild' were annihilated. The victorious adventurers of the 'Sea Guild' entered the inn to celebrate their victory.
“But is that okay?”
After the adventurers of the 'Sea Guild' went up to the room, Bami spoke quietly.
"what?"
“What the heck! You’re blatantly helping one side. What if someone sees you and spreads rumors?”
“Rumor? Who?”
“Who are those ‘Mountain Guild’ adventurers over there… Huh?”
In the direction that Bami pointed, there were only the cold corpses of the 'Mountain Guild' adventurers. Bami noticed this and stopped talking.
“The dead have no voice.”
Sarah made a gesture as if it was okay and started cleaning up the traces of the fight. Bam-yi was speechless for a while and then walked over to join in the cleaning.
“Is this really okay…?”
It was an afternoon in front of the inn, and only the sound of cleaning and Bami's worries could be heard.
End of episode 3. To be continued in the next episode?
Did you enjoy reading the novel?
As you can see, today I have prepared a slightly new type of review .
I guarantee that you will know 70% of Dungeon Man just by reading this novel.
The story is based on a real dungeon, and all the images are from actual game screens.
By the way, did you notice that I bolded keywords in the novel that are closely related to gameplay?
After playing Dungeon In, I guarantee you that if you read this again, focusing on the bold text, you'll have twice as much fun!
I did my best, but I can't finish the review with just the novel above, right?
I will explain a bit more about the parts that were difficult to understand from the novel alone.
I will write it briefly in QnA format so that the article does not become too long.
Q. Dungeon In, what kind of game is it?
Dungeon Inn is a game where Sarah and her party, who were captured by a dragon as seen in the novel, successfully negotiate and start an 'inn business'.
You have to do double duty between the 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild', which are not on good terms.
And all of this happens “turn-zero”.
You can take actions each turn, and each adventurer moves at their respective movement speed.
You need to earn money in it, pay it to the dragon, expand and renovate the inn, and use it to earn more money.
Of course, you shouldn't be caught doing double business.
Adventurers from the 'Mountain Guild' and the 'Sea Guild' think the inn only serves them.
When adventurers from both guilds meet in front of the inn and a fight breaks out, 'suspicion' builds up.
So, just like in the novel, you have to either dispel their doubts by having the spirits join the battle and say, "Oh, they kill the mountain guild without mercy?" or risk their doubts building up.
Of course, it would be more important to control it so that it doesn't meet in the first place, right?
To summarize briefly,
Use facilities such as signboards, stands, energy drinks, and turntables well each turn to attract adventurers from both guilds, but don't let them encounter each other!
Through this, we can collect money to pay tribute to the dragon!
Collect special items along the way to expand and renovate your inn facilities!
This is a game where you can become a billionaire by doing well in it.
Q. Dungeon Inn, what are the advantages?
The story is quite interesting.
The stories you read here and there while running the inn are very interesting.
At first I was running an inn, but from the middle I started playing the game to see the story.
The characters all have unique personalities (especially Sarah).
Among the three main characters, Sara, Bami, and Butter, there is no friend who doesn't stand out.
So, just watching their conversation is fun.
That's why the story I mentioned above becomes even more delicious.
The concept of making money by secretly doing double business was also novel and good.
This is the first time I've seen a game like this.
I felt like a double agent and my heart was racing the whole time I was playing the game.
I also want to give high marks to the game tempo, which is so smooth that it doesn't feel like it's turn-based.
Just play it and you'll know.
If you come to your senses, time in the game will pass by quickly, one week at a time, one month at a time.
Q. Dungeon Inn, are there any regrets?
Since it's still in Early Access, the game is a bit short.
Even with that in mind, it's still a game worth playing, but if you're expecting a long game, it might not be for you.
By the way? There are supposedly updates planned throughout 2025!
It's a shortcoming that will disappear soon, so you don't have to worry about it too much.
There aren't many variations on the gimmick.
Although additional gimmicks appear here and there, they are not extremely diverse.
Of course, this is also a drawback that will disappear with the update I mentioned above.
The Adventurer UI is a little difficult to see.
There are more factors than you might think that affect the adventurers that appear in the game (movement speed, combat power, rank, etc.)
This can be a bit tricky to figure out early in the game.
Q. What is your overall review?
Since I explained it in detail above, I will leave the overall review briefly.
A game that allows you to feel a moderate amount of brain power
A game that lets you experience the thrill of double sales
A game about running and growing an inn business in the game.
A game with unique characters and an exciting story.
All these elements come together to make a really fun game.
A game that seems like a rising star in the indie scene
You guys, you can trust me and buy from me.
This game is really tasty.
